Help Identify this Spyderco with CF scales

#1

Post by Dferg10 »

Can someone please identify this Spyderco at the top of the attached page.

Is it a Paramilitary 2?

Are the CF scales OEM? If so, what model number is it?

If the scales are custom/aftermarket, where can I get some?

Thank you.

It’s a Paramilitary 2 with custom Aramis Akhmedov CF scales. He has his own website and also sells them on Amazon.

Well, heck. This thread arrived 24 hours too late to keep me from ordering a set of PM2 custom scales from another maker. After visiting this guy's site, I may have to buy another PM2... :thinking

Correct answer! I have those scales as well on my S110V PM2. 100% recommended.

Excellent, you won't be disappointed! Here's a few teaser pics to tide you over...

Maxamet PM2 with his "Grand" smooth CF:

Maxamet Para 3 with his "Grand Line" fluted CF:

I also have his CF clips on both these models, plus on my fluted CF Native 5 (also with, you guessed it, a Maxamet blade – not this DLC one anymore):

Does anyone have any tips on my up coming scale swap project, including how best to remove the scales for the lanyard tube without damage to either?

Hi there, I’ve done dozens of PM2 and Para 3 scale swaps, and I couldn’t recommend this little doodad any more strongly:

https://www.sharpdressedknives.com/prod ... nyard-cube

There’s YouTube videos on ways to safely remove the stubborn lanyard tube without this, but you absolutely run the risk of messing up the scales, especially if you’re not familiar with the process. I added a small piece of duct tape to the backside of my lanyard cube to make sure that there’s no mark left of the scales if one happens to bang into the backside at all (the scale tends to swing in one direction while you’re cranking down the tube). Again, couldn’t recommend this any more highly if you want to be as careful as you can be! Cheers, Radioactive

Aramis site doesn't show everything he makes. His Instagram shows more scales variety possible from him with pictures and vids. Check it out

P. S. And keep in mind that if you are ordering a set of Spyderco Paramilitary 2 scales from him, you should let him know beforehand which pocket clip you are gonna use. If it's a stock Paramilitary 2 clip or aftermarket deep carry pocket clip. It would effect the clip sitting spot on his custom scales. So think which clip you are going to use before ordering scales and let him know.
