Just came in about hour ago . I like the Micarta feels great in hand . On fence with the color, thought it would be darker . Picture posted on What’s in Pocket . Wife said I’m on knife probation ! Ha ha !

Uh oh, you are in trouble. One benefit of black FRN is it is difficult to tell the difference from one to the other for non-knife Spyderco fans.

On the micarta, I would bet it will darken fairly quickly just from the oils of your hands. Give it a unique just to you look.

Well, I meant the black FRN is difficult for the wife to tell an old one from a new one. ;)

Really impressed with this one. This is the first knife I've had with this type of micarta handle, the texture feels great. It actually has that soft feel on the surface like a canvas shoe or bag, which I did not expect. Other micarta knives I've handled always had the smooth, shiny type that is finished with lacquer or whatever it is they typically seal it with, which looks nice, but doesn't offer much grip.

I wish they had polished the micarta just a touch, like on the shaman. I may actually try to do this myself, it can’t be that hard with nice flat scales.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

These are available at several places currently. North River Outdoors has them. And as DigDug72 pointed out in another thread... if you put it in the cart but let it sit for a day (maybe a little less?) they'll email you a 5% discount code...

Thanks! North River do not ship outside US though..
WMK seems to be my favourite retailer overall, I'm so happy with their service.
I should check this thread more often!

Is the compression lock tab really thicker in the Crucarta model ? I didn't notice when I was handled one.

I don’t think the liner is thicker, but the finger tab is wider so it’s easier to gain purchase and reduces hot spots. Big improvement if you ask me.
