sounds like both of you did a number on your knees, early retirement planed on it yet?

40lbs limit at work (indefinately, might change when I finally see the 2nd specialist)... 55lbs to waist in the gym, 30lbs to shoulders is possible but pinches and burns when I bend my wrist to set it up on that shelf.

Well...IF my :spyder: design sells by the batches and batches on a long term basis, who knows...I may be able to leave ****. Thanks to you also Spyderknut for reading my thread. Had things gone badly, I'd have had to have used that line from BladeII when he was surrounded by the baddies and he says, "You obviously...do not know...who you are F****** WITH!!!" Then I'd have yelled to my water drinking TA Sgt to throw me a 12 gauge!

finally got to sleep last night at 2am after going to my buddy's and making use of his father...
spent about 10min cracking my back(sounded like a room full of 5yr olds with bubblewrap), and gave me 3x1500mg flexerol and 2 motrin...

took all 5 and waited for them to numb me enough to be able to lay down.

4pm yesterday I was able to touch my toes... today it's stiffened me up enough that I'm pushing to touch my knees.

Early retirement....ah, yes. That would rock!!
If I could actually sell some of my artwork for money, perhaps I could begin thinking about retirement. Right now, I'm not selling any. :( The old line about "starving artists"...well, it's accurate.

As of now, I'm 36 years old, and our department's retirement age is 50, so I have fourteen more years to serve in the Seventh Circle of ****. Fourteen more years...I don't know if I'll make it. Most likely, a heart attack will take me out long before then, given the level of job stress.

Maybe if I finish my book one day, I can retire. I just can't help thinking, though, that the book will be about as popular as my artwork (not very), and I'm not going to set myself up for a massive let-down. It can be frustrating at times.

Hey JimD,

Are you advertising somehow the artwork you have for sale? I bet that one ya did of the airplane w/ autographs would sell well on a different site.

The heart attack thing...IIRC, it is the most common form of death in LEO's. I mean, think about it. We go from 0-200 in a blink of an eye...and that's not good. My LT, Lord rest his soul, died a few days after a fire in **** Unit. I believe that the stress caused it. :(
Wow, we're the same age and I gotta retire in my 60's :( Jim, you have survived and assisted in countless incident's and you're still around...so i do not believe that a heart attack will stop you ]drop the negative attitude[/B] towards your book and artwork. The job is negative enough as it is, don't apply it to the success of your dreams. Read my "signature" and apply it WHOLE heartedly..."Mean it" and you'll make it! TRUST me on this one :D

Take care bro, and 360IJN always...God bless,

Chad,

I haven't read the whole thread, but here's what sticks with me from your initial post:

I should have left and took the write up for abandoning my post, then fought to have it removed later other CO's said. What the LT and Cap did was blatantly wrong, my safety was jeapordized BIG time, and now they can always say, "Well, how is it that chad ran this Unit alone?" the next time we are running short of staff. *ugh*.

I don't think any job is worth risking your life for. What if ... what if ... what if ... ya know? If the "what if" had happened, this thread might not even be here. Take the writeup next time and let the union help you work the issue. Life is already prudy short ....

You speak in past tense...so i assume you are out of the wonderful world of a CO?
DW,

Just for the record I have never been a CO.
When inmates could still claim disability insurance I had to visit them to interview and examine them. I was usually left alone with an inmate in a combined medical, dental and administrative section of the building which I found on more than one occasion to be empty otherwise.
Nothing ever happened but I never turned my back on anyone and always came prepared to hit first if necessary and ask questions later.
Nowadays you can't claim disability insurance while in detention anymore. The law was changed after a famous Dutch murderer was released who had collected over $100.000 at least while in detention which caused some kind of uproar.
Last year a recreational worker was killed with a chisel by a psychotic inmate in the institution I used to visit. Maybe the rules have changed since then but I don't mind not having to go there anymore anyway.

Man, you did the right thing. The mates must respect you and your position or they would not have behaved that well. Sometimes it takes a thing like this to really appreciate the things that you love. I know this all sounds crazy, but I have a job to do over here. Don't like it, but I have to do it.

Chad: May not be able to yet... gotta wonder though, what's an OD of percocete? Took 2 last night to kill the pain in my back over a 2hr period, I was good and numb for a few hours :D .

Already know that taking 6-8 asprin/tylonel are needed to have any effect, same as 4 motrin(400mg super strength).
High pain tolerance combined with drug resistance is a pain. By the time it hurts enough to need something for it, most ppl would already be in emerg crying in pain(found that out when I got a chair to the face 4yrs ago and the doc asked how I was still upright[between swelling, blood and the x-rays] when the pain should have had me on my knees or back)

edit: had to do some research... apparently the sweating & nausea are 2 signs of an OD. guess 2 in 2hrs might be a little too much in the system at once.

I usually avoid the high dose stuff unless I'm in really good pain. Usually motrin alone will control pain, since the naproxin my doc has me on for my wrist only does inflamation. The back pain the last few days called for desperate measures. I've had my percocet and codine pills here for over a year and they're last resort meds, hate feeling useless b/c I can't move from muscles melting on me).

No need to worry about me aiming for an OD, or mixing meds and alcohol. Have enough family in the med field that I'd get reamed out really well for it.

now what do you mean about "type A as it is"? are the voices telling you stories again?
