Re: Suggestions to complete my "Trinity"
I left budget out initially, but in the same $5-600 range of the other two I have ideally, but for the right piece I could consider more. Over $1k would require something really special/unique though.
And BTW thanks for all the excellent replies. As a newbie, my posts had to clear moderation to show up for you guys, but I actually like that, because I despise forum spam. I also just got home from working a double shift, turning my usual 24hr one into 48hrs. My fire department borders Baltimore City, and we had sent a bunch of folks up to cover them while they attended the funeral of the 3 Firefighters that recently died. They actually had every single station covered by other departments, and took the entire on duty City FFs out of service to go. I normally get some time to check in on forums, but I spent it watching a lot of the services Wednesday when I could, and unfortunately the father of one of my folks (who in a strange coincidence was a retired Baltimore City FF himself passed late that same night I spent a fair bit of my down time the next day checking in on him, lining up resources, and keeping my chain of command informed as to his needs. So please accept my apologies for the delay in following up with you guys that were quick to help me.

Re: Suggestions to complete my "Trinity"
As far as a trinity I don’t really have one but… Spyderco, Microtech and Protech are my favorite brands. I’m still trying to get a Socom Elite manual folder. I think you should take a look, they are just hard to find in stock. You also mentioned Strider Knives… have you ever seen the Protech strider? It is an automatic but they look quite nice. I would much prefer one of these than an actual Strider knife. Protech makes some really nice knives. Check out the Malibu, it’s just phenomenal and they make a few different colors and blade shapes too.FearDoiteain wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 10:56 amLong time lurker, newer poster seeking input. I am looking to round out my collection of nice knives. I know the traditional Trinity was Hinderer, Strider, and CRK. But Strider just doesn't speak to me, so that leaves at least one open spot. I definitely would like to get a Hinderer at some point, but I am wondering what other alternatives you would consider for your personal trinity.
For reference here are my current two trinity members/candidates that happen to both be in S45VN, a CRK Large Sebenza in Bog Oak and a Spartan Harsey Folder Plague Doctor, along with some comparison knives. I consider the SpydieChef and ZT 0562TI shown as users. The 'Chef is a bit small for my hands, as I can only get about a 3.5 finger grip, and on my PM2 my pinkie ends up on the hump at the end of the grip. My Endela is probably the bare miniumum for a full grip and even it is getting a bit narrow for me to hold comfortably (I wear XXL work/medical gloves.)
I looked at the Spydie Drunken and Paysan, but neither of those really interest me. The Paysan looks like it would be a great knife, but kind of "plain" for its price, especially with the recent MSRP increases.
I am looking for something with "character" like a unique design, inlay, etc. I prefer a full size grip, but I am open to consider a more compact gentleman style for more formal event. Currently that role is filled by a Benchmade 940-1 (CF and S90V), and recently added a Spydie Watu. A high end steel would be nice, but not necessary as I have a ton of different steels already.
And while a lot of what I have listed is titanium frame locks, I also really like compression locks (PM2, PM3, Watu, Caribbean), and I also love (and own) a lot of Axis lock style knives from Benchmade and Hogue. I already have two ZT Hinderer 0562 designs in titanium and titanium/CF, and love that style as well as Sinkevich designs like the ZT 0450 and 0452CF, Ritter designs like his Hogue collaborations, Sibert designs like the Adamas and Bushcrafter.

Hinderer xm-18 most definitely.
Micrtotech ultratech cuz they're just cool. Need at least one...
I been eyeballing a Medford pareatorian as well but $700-$900...overpriced imo!
I think $500 is my comfort level
