Does St Nick's do black blade exclusives only? or, is there a possibility we will we see a non-coated version as well? (CS and BHQ did both versions)
So far they have all been black coated blades and red G10.

Their first exclusive was a Delica with a TiCN coating but the rest were all Golden made models with a DLC coating.

The red/satin colorway belongs to DLT.

Does red/satin/4V change this?

IIRC, colors AND materials are all factored into what combination is reserved for an exclusive’s originator.

My understanding was that if an intended exclusive is the same color combination but a different steel, it’s still considered a unique combination that can be claimed.

This is what I remember reading from Sal, Mike, or Kristi at some point, but I haven’t found the post I think I’m remembering.

Have the 4V Manix2 and I've got 3 Native Chief's so I'm inclined to pass on this one, but you never know when it rolls around. If some are available after the initial crush, I might reconsider.

It's fun to have a couple of knives with DLC, but it really just decreases the performance of the knife if you're actually using it.
I've had the opposite experience. My DLC knives out perform the satin versions when it comes to corrosion resistance.
My apologies for my insensitivity to the corrosion challenged.
The DLC 4V Native Chief is starting to grow on me, or maybe it's just that it's a lot cheaper than the Elmax Para2.

What do you mean by decreases the performance when using a knife with DLC?? As long as your edge is sharp and you're not trying to slice with a wedge, there isn't a difference between the two in use. I used to think that DLC dragged a bit when slicing...but then I realized I just wasn't that good at sharpening. No issues like that these days.

You think right, it does add some friction compared to a satin blade; and a sharp edge will reduce the perception of that friction by doing what sharp knives do, slice through stuff like magic.

I don't have a lot of problems with rust, but I'm very fond of my DLC Manix2 XL.
Spyderco is making some nice looking blacked out knives these days. My preferences for a Native Chief would be all black or a satin blade.

I've noticed the same thing halving apples with the same knife in satin VS DLC. I don't feel any increased friction in most cuts, but in some materials I definitely do.

I've had the Military, Para 2, Chief and Manix XL in both satin and DLC, and the Street Beat in satin and whatever coating the LW uses.

For me the slight increase in friction is offset by the improved corrosion resistance. Overall performance is higher, even if it is lower in a specific area.

If you don't value corrosion resistance very much I could understand seeing DLC as a draw back.

Slightly off topic but how many copies can a master flipper acquire? I've seen exclusives on ebay that were limited purchases of one or two and the flipper had ten available. How do they do this?

At this point people are making a business out of it. Probably the same DB's that call you about your extended car warranty. I also wouldn't doubt if some of this happens internally, money makes people do stupid things.
Next time they call say "Great!. I've been looking for someone to provide a warranty my '71 Fiat and my '73 Lada"

They will quit calling

I sold the first DLC blade that I used due to the off-putting increased friction on apples. I have since bought a few more, but have so little use on them that I’m still undecided on my opinion of DLC.

I have noticed some differences in DLC finishes. The S90V Manix LW has more grippy DLC than the BHQ Native Chief, for example.
