You Win Some...

Post by Hannibal Lecter »

...you lose some. :p

I decided to take this past Friday off and work from home, which is normally not a problem; I connect via VPN to my employer and work from home with some regularity.

However, this past Friday was a bit odd, as my DSL service at home had gone absent Thursday afternoon sometime. I thought little of it, as I am on an experimental service that will occasionally get a bit screwy; I anticipated a quick resolution.

What I found out is that someone here at the office had put orders in for termination and disconnect of my DSL, and that said orders had gone through.

No DSL. No VoIP service, hence no voice line either.

I am still attempting to weed out the culprit(s) this morning. I have a sneaking suspicion who is responsible, but I want proof before proceeding.

I will generally not attribute to malice what can be chalked up to mere stupidity, but in this case I want to be certain, as the name I heard associated with the disconnect is a young lady at an outlying office that I have exchanged less-than-cordial pleasantries with in the past.

Wish her luck that it is not her.

He's a good dude. My guess is he needed to vent and he'll do what's right.

Hang in their Hannibal. It's all good bro.

God Bless,

I appreciate fully the humorous spirit of the post. However, I make a concerted effort to avoid such implications here, as I would not have myself confused with the discourteous rogue upstart using a similar username before me. :D

To satiate my admittedly disturbed sense of humor, incoming PMs... :p

You, Sir, are a sick individual, and I happen to admire that trait in a person. :D Care to do lunch sometime?

I will also point out that if Spyderco made such a knife I would own at least two, though I think that 8 inches of blade might be a little extreme even by my standards... ;)

In actuality, it appears that the DSL error was mostly an honest mistake caused by temporary personnel not being trained properly. The young lady in question was partially responsible, but I cannot at this time prove malice and aforethought.

Not yet, anyway. :D

With any luck, I will be operational again by Friday; there will be much to do.

However, I have my recent acquisition of a Blue Almite Walker to keep me well preoccupied until then. :p
