The American Knife and Tool Institute is a non-profit organization representing the combined efforts of manufactures, importers, distributors, retailers, custom knife artisans, journalists and concerned citizens united to educate, promote, and inform the American public about various types of knives and multi-function tools.
see; www.akti.org for details, membership $35
I am curious to know if the "folding knife carrying one-hand-opening" folks know about this organization and if are members?

Brian - I certainly hope so. Wouldn't want the $15 MO circling the globe by having it returned. I made an inquiry on the AKTI forum in BFC. The board of Governors welcome foreign membership. It'll be interesting to be one! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

There was a $15 AKTI application in a Spydie box that I got recently. Must've been the one from Smoky Mountain. Went to look at the web site, and it had gone up by $20! I realize that running ANY kind of organization can be expensive, that is when you can find people to do things. But I think that $15 would attract more people that $35. I'm definitley turned away by high membership costs(although in a few cases I put up with it... ARRL is the only one so far, same price). I suppose I should just give in with the excuse that EVERYTHING is more expensive, but I don't have enough money to do that.
