Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
If I go somewhere with a backpack or satchel, I always have one or more patches on it. This time it was different. I got this patch yesterday from my friend. There was a lot of snow at night and I decided to take a picture of him with a nice knife. I didn't have time for hike, so my garden had to be enough for me as a backgroundkerrcobra wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 7:54 amI got to ask, and I mean no offense at all. I'm just curious - do you carry a patch around with you? Your picture gives me the impression (perhaps mistakenly) that you're out in the woods somewhere and put your gear down to take this nice shot (nice shot BTW - love pictures of that knife), and you just have a random patch with you.

That makes sense. I didn't think about having patches on a bag or something when I asked that question lol.

Of the two, it's a clear favorite. Fit and finish on both is phenomenal, but the blade thinness of the Torino combined with that super hardness is just an absolute laser. Very pleased with it so far, but I do imagine it will be quite brittle, so it's not kicking any of my Spydies out of my pocket for the primary EDC role. I'm looking forward to testing it on some cardboard this weekend and putting it up against some of my other more wear resistant steels (maxamet para 3, zdp ladybug, k390 manbug, some boker ceramic knife I have). The Terravantium blade will have to wait until I feel like sharpening it. It didn't arrive anything more than working sharp, so I'll thin it out and put a coarse edge on it some time later. The Meat man wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 12:15 pmHey! Nice! I sure wish Golden had a small, thin bladed knife that they could run some of the harder blade steels in. Something like a Manbug/Ladybug in S110V or Maxamet would just be killer.

Snow, wind, and about 30F today for the first proper snow of the year. Very damp. Good conditions for a companion made of MagnaCut while wandering through the outdoors.

This Sebenza 31 arrived today. Removed the lanyard right away, and will probably dab a drop of thread locker onto the lanyard pin later to keep it from rattling.

It's been a little while. I just sharpened it up this morning, and now it is hair-whittling sharp again. This Vanax sharpens up so beautifully! Really one of the most enjoyable of my knives to sharpen.

That's great. FWIW I have found that Sandrin's TC is actually pretty resilient. I was able to cut through extension cords without any discernable damage.kerrcobra wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 12:35 pmOf the two, it's a clear favorite. Thanks man! That's great to know actually. I wouldn't have tried that, but I will be a little less concerned about chipping it in regular use now.The Meat man wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 11:27 amThat's great.
