Still looking for a good deal on the Rhino. Been on the fence with it for several years due to price to size ratio. (kinda weird coming from someone who likes Lil Native dealer exclusives and sprints, I know)
At this point, it might be worth waiting until after the new year just in case we see some deals but the Rhino is definitely worth it as is!

i never looked at the rhino or the brouwer before seeing they might disappear forever. it's a shame when that happens. the rhino looks like a cool little knife, but the brouwer is more interesting to me overall. the esee zancudo is such a great knife and the brouwer seems like a higher class and higher quality version. now i want one pretty bad, but they're out of stock at spyderco and probably not coming back. keeping an eye out for discounts.

I grabbed a Schempp Bowie. I wanted one for years so didn’t want to risk it disappearing forever.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to get one of these and hopefully, next year will bring good deals for this one in my favorite dealers.

I'm sad and confused that there's no official announcement & list this year, or so it seems. I just don't understand why.

^ While the size may not be a good fit for everyone, I like the Brouwer a lot and hope that it stays around for some time.

The Brouwer is a great small folder. The biggest characteristic is that it’s not wide because the Spydie Hole doesn’t have a hump. It’s still very easy to open. It’s not really a left-handed folder because the hole is mostly covered on the lock side which also makes the clip holes on the G-10 useless and unappealing. The biggest issue with the Brouwer is the placement of clip so far away from the bottom even after Spyderco moved it up a little. The lanyard hole is in the way just to accommodate about 10% of users.

Do you think it’s even that high a percentage? I would have guessed under 1%

I was being generous. I use 10% for each of left-handed, tip-down and lanyard hole. By not accommodating them you enhance the aesthetics. Not every folder should have such accommodations.

I agree fully regarding lanyard holes and tip-down, but left-handed friendliness is a bit different.
While lanyards and clip orientation is a choice, left-handedness isn't. So as long as accommodations for such doesn't get in the way of functionality, which it usually doesn't, I don't mind the minor implication it has on visual appearance.
Obviously it makes sense to omit such features on knives that are in no way practical for lefties to operate anyway. I haven't tried the Brouwer myself, but seems like it could be such a case.

i've seen lefties spydie flicking the brouwer. apparently it's easier for lefties than righties because of the cutout position vs the lockbar. i just like that the knife is like an upgraded version of the esee zancudo, which i happen to like a lot.

For what it’s worth, I am right handed and can middle finger Spydie flick the Brouwer. Access to the Spyderhole is limited but still accessible enough for me to flick.

So can we deduce what is discontinued based off what’s not in the 2022 catalog? I can’t bring up the 2021 catalog to cross compare. However I don’t think I saw the Parata in there. What else??

Brouwer, Rhino, Schempp Bowie, Mantra 3, Schempp Bowie appear all to be gone ...

The Bowie is one of the most unique knives I have ever had - I actually love to use it outdoors. Not heavy use knife, but strong enough and just super cool yet usable. Also very usable around food prep outdoors.

The Brouwer really only needs a deep carry Ti clip from MXG. The knife is very ergonomic, I wish Spyderco would use a jimping-free finger choil on more of their 'non-heavy-duty' models. I am right handed, but actually like to play with my knives with my left hand too, and Brouwer can be either flicked with middle finger, or pinch-gripped between the thumb and middle finger and slow-rolled.
... I like weird :bug-red :bug-white-red :bug-white ...

I've searched for a Brouwer at a discounted price since it has been discontinued. All 10+ dealers I've looked at are still selling it for $189.00 which is the MAP price (30% off MSRP of $270.00)! They're probably low on stock. Some display the fact that it has been discontinued.
None of the knives are being discounted despite the price control being lifted, but I only wanted a Serrata anyway. I guess this is another case of retailers being scumbags. They ruined the knife industry with their greed. Glad I don't pay attention anymore. Amazon and Ebay should have been allowed to eradicate them all.

Not entirely true. Some of us scored the Province and just paid $200 to NewGrahamKnives. You gotta seize opportunities, be on your toes. And have great buddies around here.
