Mine when through just now. Lots and lots of reloads, but it finally worked. I have an order number so hopes are high.

As frustrating as this is for us, Spyderco crew is getting the worst of it. Have some sympathy for them, please!*

*Yes, I am aware there are technical solutions for the issues we are seeing, but the increased cost will have to be pushed to us. Keep that in mind.

Ha!! I made it! Just after posting what I did earlier, now (at 9:54) I get the notice in my browser:

Thank you Thomas, your order has been successfully completed.........

Holy cow. I was certain this has gotten shredded in internet land. I guess all is well that ends well and persistence pays off.

An hour of browser tending and nail biting .. mules are hard won.

I am truly sorry for all the members here that aren't able to get their order through. I have been there many times before.

As said before, this is basically the equivalent of a DDoS attack on the website. The same thing happens to big sites when, say, a new iPhone comes out; even with the huge servers Apple has, they can't predict the amount of traffic that will be going through. Respectfully, Spyderco isn't as big as Apple, so they have no need to pay for for huge dedicated servers that will handle the traffic of times like these. I do understand that they could discuss changing their web hosting for something that would be more efficient.

What I did was log in to my account, was on the Mule page until "add to cart" was published, clicked once on each page to not overload my browser or the server, was patient (the hardest part) even if the page didn't look like it was doing anything.

Silver lining - since there aren't many orders going through, after the initial rush, there might be enough knives available. Also, people might be trying to sneak more than 1 order in that will be cancelled later.

tl;dr - I really am sorry for the frustration people are going through. My only advice is be patient when ordering, don't keep hitting refresh when it is processing (this will add additional traffic and potentially could back you out from the cart/order/checkout page).
You should never have to ask yourself "do i really need another knife?" The answer is obvious...

Now I can finally sleep!!! That was stressful. The Online Seconds sale looked like a children's party compared to this.

Got one finally, don't think I'll be doing that again, but there are just no other options for MC right now.

Yes, the site seems to have a portion of his speed back. I guess a lot on the initial people that wanted one are off the site now...

Keep trying!

If you are getting declined, it may simply be that the information is not matching on cc info and the info put in during processing. I was declined 4 times, called cc company, no transaction went through. Then read Kristis tips and all it took was entering my info on the Spyderco order, the change in my address from St to Street. Took 56 minutes to finally get approval/processed. Must have been quite a few magnacut mules in this batch…

I think I succeeded, but the fact that I had to refresh the website plenty of time to add to cart made me order 2 MT35P... My bank account is not gonna like it if the order has actually been made !
(I don't trust it, I've been at it for an hour and I've started to become mad)

I do not know how people do that with exclusive, it's painful !

Hey, it worked! I've been trying to get a Mule Team twice. I will admit I sat out on the last one because of low toughness.

And ironically, one year to the date from last year's seconds sale.

This will be my first Spyderco fixed blade, in a steel I'm really excited to try.

Wow, checking their web page just now at 10 (after fighting for an hour to get my order through), I see they are still available. And the website seems like it is coming back alive again. So anyone who gave up might just try again.
