The Places I Haunt...

#1

Post by Hannibal Lecter »

Good day, all.

My Lady and I were a touch inspired this past weekend while traveling to the chili cookoff and stopped en route to take a few photos. Just in case some of you were wondering what my "backyard" looked like...

you know what I enjoy the most in life: quiet!
this place sure looks like you could rest your feet, your back to a tree after a long day of hicking with your girl and your dog.
thanks for the pics, makes me realize I need some vacation :)

A Picturesque Area...

Good day, all.

My thanks for the comments.

Driving Saturday morning through such a beautiful area was something I needed to share. The area is a Black Bear Sanctuary, though we did not see any that particular day.

Very good pics indeed.

I love the mountains in VA and WV. Great stuff. Very quiet and peaceful.

Hannibal my good buddie,

You are a lucky man. I get to open my window every morning to see a nice busy city.

One of my pleasures in life is just to get away and be left alone. I could for sure do that out there.

Nice pics... Thanks!

Great pics Doc...

I grew up in the Blue Ridge of Virginia... don't know where you took these but they remind me of home.

How was the chili?

Aloha Hannibal!

BEAUTIFUL! Funny in that they refer to where I live as "paradise"?

God bless and will be in touch!

That could very well be my backyard....... ;)

I love this state. I'm here to stay, and will never leave unless they come for my guns.

Hey Doc, was the chili cookoff in the next valley over? There appears to be some gaseous precence obscuring the view of the far off hills :D . Looks like it would be a super area for hiking. Lots of trails?

Excellent trails abound, though many of them are occupied by skiers during the winter months.

A couple of years ago, in mu twenties, I had the chance to travel south on my motorcycle. Those time when we could cross the border answering just 3 questions: Where are you from, where do you go and for how long those where the times.... Anyway, after I got my degree in teaching, I plan to go down to Louisiana to teach french. Everything was packed back home to be shipped as soon as I had a place to live.

It was my 2nd long trip (meaning more than two weeks) in the Us. I had been on a previous road trip to Virginia beach. God that was a good one. it was summer of 1992, very hot and sunny. 10 days on road 1 through little towns and villages and camping to get there...

So, on this second trip, I drove down all these highways and turnpikes.... It was not very charming... But as soon as I hit VA, what a scenery: Mountains and valleys à perte de vue... This is still the best scenery I've ever seen in North America...

Dr. Lecter, you are very lucky to live there... ;)
