Re: K390 Endura Full SE available now
When it arrives: Could you compare the serrations on yours to those shown in the depiction on the Spyderco site?crazywednesday wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 11:03 amhttps://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/C10FK390/1887
I just purchased mine.
Sometimes the serrations (pattern, even number of scallops) can differ from the actual knife to that depiction.
I wonder for example if the PE part towards the tip really will be as (rather) short as on the pic.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
Re: K390 Endura Full SE available now
I wonder how k390 serrations will take to sharpmaker sharpening.
Re: K390 Endura Full SE available now
Same here!
Also how fast they´ll wear the rods - since one can only use the corners for SE, and perhaps will want to use the diamond or CBN rods for that steel.
I have a (totally layman) feeling, that for me personally VG10 could be a better choice than K390 for SE. Holds an edge quite long i serrated format, and is still really easy to sharpen (VG10, I mean).

Re: K390 Endura Full SE available now
My experience with K390 is that, I find it easy to maintain an edge, much harder to restore an edge.
So, I run my blades across the rods periodically while they are still sharp rather than waiting til they are done.
While I'm not a SE guru, I think the same will apply.

Any thoughts concerning toughness of K390 on an SE blade? I think SE is more prone to damages, due to the pointy "teeth". but also the chisel grind - so I´d assume that with SE one would "trade hardness for toughness" a bit more than with PE - especially since SE holds an edge longer than PE in the same steel anyway.

Evil D sharpened his K390 SE Police in this thread:Wartstein wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 3:04 pmSame here!

Are you sure it wasn't Plain Edge? The pictures on the K390 product pages show the serrated versions. Maybe i missed it but I haven't seen the tick box to select Spyderedge yet. Only on the Police.

It says plain edge on the page, but shows SE yes. Might be a surprise when it comes in the mail
In the collection : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.
