Survival Kit done!!!
Survival Kit done!!!
A few months ago I posted about essential items in a survival kit. Well, I have mine finished and although a bit bigger than most would carry it packs a lot in.
Otter Box-water proof and guaranteed for life
Space blanket-the sleeping bag style, although bigger, it is more appropriate for the climate I am in.
Thermometer/Compass-probably not the most accurate but it was small and I usually carry a good compass when I am out in the wilderness
Tweezers-A gift from a fellow forumite and great for lots of things
Gerber Solstice-scissors, bottle/can opener, screwdrivers
Waterproof/windproof matches
Swedish Firesteel-WOW, can't believe I found one of these in ThunderBay
Tinder
Paracord
Saw
Mirror
Hooks, sinkers-have to remember to put line in
Candle
Needles and Thread
Lightstick-blue(does not attract flies)
Snare Wire
Thinks thats it... It all fits in the Otter Box. Quite happy with the results and hope I never have to use it :D Take Care!!!

Hi CKE!
Looks as if could be useful outdoors if combined with a first aid kit. BTW, what are these white tablet-like thingies?
I also often thought of putting together something like an urban-survival-kit. The only problem that kept me away from it till now is that I use public transport mainly and therefore the capacity/size of such a pack is limited. Also there's the problem what to put in so I still just carry two pairs of Latex-gloves with me
On the other hand I know someone who will be an emergency-surgeon soon. I tell you, you don't even want to know what's in the trunk of his car :D No room for a spare tire, but everything to do open heart surgery on the street - seriously...
Cheers, Rob

my survival kit takes more than 1 pic :p
only thing it's missing is a pot for cooking & water purification. Have tablets for 25 litres of water and 4 litres in my trunk.

have to bring it inside and get a new set of pics sometime, little more done to it since the winter update.

Coffee before Conciousness
Why do people worry more if you argue with your voices than if you just talk with them? What about if you lose those arguements?
Slowly going crazy at work... they found a way to make the voices work too.

One suggestion:
Add a small Zip-Lok type bag with several cotton balls that have a large glob of petroleum jelly on them. Just dip the cotton into a small container of the jelly, load up the cotton ball, and you're all set.
They work great for firestarting! Touch a match to one, and they burn like a little torch. Place one underneath your tinder, light it, and you'll have a decent fire in about two minutes.
