I balked at threads that lifted up the backlocks and thought of frn as Lego material. My how things change over time and experience.
Really speaks for you that you are open minded! Both Endela and Salt are great workhorse options (though for me both in SE) and a good backlock for me still the best, safest and most universal option.
But: May I share a dirty little secret with you?
Much like you gave backlocks and Endura family knives a try, I got a Para 3 LW SE.. (a knife I somehow never really "understood"), though with a 100% intent of selling it again.
Just wanted to give it a fair try and be open minded too.
And I have to say: I like it better than the first time I could try one, though it still could never be my favorite in the small folder arena and I WILL sell it again. Ergos are not that bad as I recalled them, blade is thick indeed but cuts pretty well. What I just can't really warm up to though on this model is the comp.lock.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I never felt like my FRN salts were my nicest knives. They aren't my first choice to show a buddy at a backyard BBQ to impress them. But if I could only carry one Spyderco folder for the rest of my life I'd choose a Pacific Salt with zero hesitation.legOFwhat? wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 7:30 pmGernot, I've finally come around with lw frn and back locks! My youngest daughter took mine this weekend(army) and I really miss it! Probably just buy another because it's just that good!
I think it is great that your daughter has your knife now (in the army?)!!
But I also think: You have to get another indeed!! It IS that good!
I´ve said it before: Practically speaking for me role model how a sensible designed small folder should look like:
Does not need to be any heavier
Does not need thicker blade stock
Does not need a choil, but rather a spacious grip and a ricasso to choke up on should need be.
Just perfect for what it is and such an amazing performer! Plus: Totally rustproof, for those who need that.

That was a real dilemma, I can assure you, but I’m not exclusively a serrated guy. I still prefer PE for some tasks. That might change, and I might replace this one or have both at some point, but I decided to start with PE.Wartstein wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 12:22 amaicolainen wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 1:35 pmIf salt is as bad for you as they say, I’m in trouble

I am 100% certain it is great in PE too (and hope you'll share here if...., well, no, THAT it is... )!aicolainen wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 1:35 amThat was a real dilemma, I can assure you, but I’m not exclusively a serrated guy. I am more and more an exclusively SE guy (IF a model I want offers this option) anyway.
But for a do it all and also emergency mountain blade the choice would have always been "teeth".
PE is certainly perfect for almost all tasks too and better for things like detailled wood work for example!
And tbh: Most times it really does not matter a lot if PE or SE.
