Imho a knife every mountaineer or hiker should own.
SOO light and slim, but outperforms all the thick bladed (and heavier!) options (especially in SE), prooves once more that 2.5mm stock in such a knife is more than enough even in "hard use", will cut and cut and "saw" and tear apart in emergency situations... amazing little tool.

Yessiree Bob! Lookin' forward to a serrated LC200N FFG UKPK Salt from 2.5mm stock with a strong close bias. :bug-red :usflag ;)

Yes, this must be an equally great alternative to the Salt 2 for those who prefer a true fingerchoil!

Even lighter, but sacrifizing a lock for that.
Not a really big deal imho though on such a small knife that will be held with one finger in the choil most of the times anyway.

Toss up. Boils down to personal preference. Generally not a fan of 50/50 choils, but in the case of a small slippie, it does make good sense. I do like the wire clip and the fact that it does have two small and one large serration more than the Salt 2. Golden build quality and $27.30 less expensive doesn't hurt either. Both good choices, tho.

Almost grabbed that one myself today, but carried the Rex45 version for most of the week last week. Native Chief has really surprised me and become a top 3 Spyderco model for me. Never saw that coming!

The Native Chief has really won me over too. The first time I handled one, I checked it out next to a Police 4 LW and went with the P4 without second thought. I liked the opening action much better.

Over time I've come to prefer the ergonomics of the Chief to the Police.

My Rex45 tempted me too, but I decided to pocket the M4 today and give it a new edge. Still haven't gotten around to reprofiling it. The stock edge is better than most!

I completely agree. I'm loving mine for IWB carry when trail running and hiking. Also, great option when wearing lighter shorts or a bathing suit at the beach.
