For me the McBee is too small to use the clip. So I removed the clip and carry in the 5th pocket of my jeans or drop it down in the pocket of my shorts. That's about as super-deep carry as it gets

Anyone know where to pick a McBee up?
Knifejoy.com has customized and stock McBees.

Very nice mod, but isn't it small enough to just put in your pocket?
I’m always surprised that people can do this reliably, things fall out of my pockets all the time when I’m sitting down and I know for a fact I’d eventually lose a knife if I carried it that way.

Now that I’m giving it more thought, I bet it has to do with leg length. I’m 6’2 with a very short torso, so an absolutely bizarre amount of that is in my legs… when I sit with my feet on the floor, my knees are probably relatively high which would put my thighs at an angle where things are more likely to fall out of my pockets, as opposed to someone whose knees are consistently lower than their hips when seated.

The McBee is tiny and sits nicely in the bottom of your pocket (or snug in the 5th pocket). I've been carrying Manbugs or my Cricket this way for several years now. Haven't lost one yet except when I forget to take them out of my pockets. They usually get cleaned as they go through the washing machine :)

If anyone is looking to pick one up, I'd recommend getting one from McNee's himself. He offers several mods, anodizing, and my personal favorite Jimping on the spine.

Spyderco missed an opportunity leaving the jimping off. When it's there, the McBee is a front flipper, which makes way more sense for a knife that size.

I want to send one of mine to him to add his jimping. I'd love to try it.

That matching rock pattern on the scale is cool too. Usually, I prefer to carry clipless with a small fob but I wish he would offer that rock pattern on his custom McBee clips as a highlight to match the pivot and lock bar highlights.

This is awesome! I have several of this specific clip so I think I’ll do your mod to my mcbee right now. Thanks!
Did you try out the clip?

I did, but I used an extra two-hole clip like the one Spydiegirl is using because it more closely matched the finish of the Mcbee and was more subtle than the one you modified (in my opinion only).

Here is a pic:

So what exact clip is this? Thanks!
I'm not sure exactly. (not my picture)
It looks to be an MXG Gear clip.

Not a clip-related post but I searched the forum and there doesn’t seem to “bee” a dedicated thread for the lil’ guy (not sure how that’s possible). Anyway, McNees Custom Knives is now offering black, green and brown Micarta replacement scales for the McBee (presentation side only obviously). I grabbed a black one to see how I like it. They also recently stocked a bunch of Ti ones with various patterns including frag pattern ones (all without the 4 little decorative holes that the stock scales have). Just thought I’d mention it if anyone was interested… Cheers, Radioactive

Every time I see this thread pop up, I think to myself there's no deeper method than dropping it into the bottom of my pocket.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
