Nothing but good interactions with Cliff Stamp, even when we didn't agree. Pretty much any conversation we had on knives I came away learning something. We are diminished.

Rest In Peace Cliff.

I had no idea he had a rough reputation - certainly not in my book. I watched a few of his videos on Sharpmaker technique, and those were very helpful. I appreciate his contributions here on the forum.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

RIP

I never interacted with him in (digital) person, but i learned so much from his forum posts (here and elsewhere) and YouTube videos. One of the greatest legacies a person can leave is "raising the floor" of our understanding of certain topics and fields of knowledge, and I think he did that.

I must be living under a rock. I've heard his name around here a few times over the years, but didn't realize how large of an impact he had on the knife community and everything he had learned and passed along.

Condolences to all his friends, family and followers.

I don't think he had been active on the forum since you joined, but if you do a search you'll surely find a lot. There were some...very passionate discussions...but also a wealth of knowledge.

When I joined the forum it appears that Cliff was no longer participating and I did not have a chance to meet him, but from what I have read in the condolence messages it is evident that he was a great guy. Rest in peace.

RIP. Have watched some of his videos, read a lot of his posts, and admired his almost limitless endurance when it came to knife edge testing. He was a machine, and very driven. Very intelligent as well. The knife world has lost a fount of knowledge and will be poorer for it.

his last post here was in 2016, but the last time he was mentioned before this thread was just a few days ago, and quite regularly before that. he's certainly made an impact on the community. praying for his friends and family.

That's a big loss to the knife afi community. Cliff was brusque sometimes, but man could he drop science. And did, here and elsewhere, with terrific generosity.

Cliff was disagreeable, as every experimental physicist should be. He certainly made the discussion of knives more difficult, to our betterment, I’d say.

And, he was humane, especially in his final years (when he became absent here), as near as I can tell.

I’m sorry to hear of his passing, and suspect it was way too soon.
