Wish they would have used this method for the Wave:

The one drawback is you impact the Spyderhole function, but I think it is a cleaner look than the method used on the SDG Endura, and once you use the Wave feature, you are "hooked".

I too am totally impressed with the Endura Wave, having recently recieved mine. I own a number of Endura's already but feel this is a different tool alltogether, thumb's up to all partie's involved to make this piece a reality.
I hope regular factory version's are produced particularly a Delica Wave with an option of combo edge's.

I just posted this on Bladeforums general forum regarding the Waved Endura.

Thanx for the comments. We always appreciate feedback, good or bad.

We made 500 pieces for SDF because that's where the original idea and support came from. Spyderco did some testing and felt that the modified pieces might not be strong enough (15% reduction in blade sgtrength). As the conversation continued on SDF, we decided to do a short run of the design to see reaction. Making the test run as an exclusive for SDF, we felt would be a good way to reward the source of the "let's do it".

We are getting good response on the piece from ELUs, which is what really counts.

We have had a number of requests from our distributors and dealers (USA & abroad) to make it a regular part of the line, even add models. It is my understanding that Ernest would not object (we'll check with him to be sure) to continuing the collaboration.

If we did continue, we'd have to use the newer version of the Endura and probably a different color handle. We wouldn't want to hurt the collectability of the original collaboraton.

Opinions?

That's great news, Sal. As far as handle color for the waved Enduras, I like blue, but any others - tan, black, green - would be fine too.

Far freakin out!!. Into the :spyder: chamber with my Waved Endura; The next one will be for EDC. I've always been partial to OD. I feel like the waved models of existing designs should always be of a different colored FRN or whatever material used. The only drawback I could see to that would be -if- the wave is someday considered to be an "evil assult weapon", and the handle gives it away.
It has been a while since there was an OD Endura, this might be the time to bring it back as the non-exclusive, available-wherever- :spyder: 's-are-sold, Waved Endura.
I'd love to see a waved Native, but it seems like there would have to be some material added to the blade to make it reliable (or not). The Millitary and Para-Military have been mentioned, as well as several others.
If this becomes a reality (and it looks like it will), count me in.

That's really saying something, considering many of the folks in on the initial conversation took their ball and went to WT. Very impressive.

I'm a strong proponent of wave-ifying more enduras, or other knives in the lineup (manix, lil temperance spring to mind!).

That's not unusual. Ordered mine on the fifth, they shipped the 10th and arrived on the 17th. They'll send you a tracking number when it ships.

Five days after my order (which was acknowledged quickly by an e-mail like the one you received) I received a second e-mail. There was a weekend in there so this delay wasn't excessive. The second email told me the scheduled delivery date by UPS. The parcel arrived on the scheduled delivery day. UPS ground took 7 days from California to Northern Michigan.

While I may not be thrilled by UPS performace, it came when scheduled and the communication from SDG, while not immediate, was timely and accurate.

miyamotomusashi - I'd just give it a little more time. Many of these dealers have real full-time jobs and the company you deal with is just part-time. I hope that he's busy filling orders and is selling out this special run.

Just got mine today so I had to demonstrate the Wave feature to my wife. Afterwards she asked me what the hook was for as she thought I had bought some kind of automatic and I was secretely pushing a button.
I do need to practice some more though as I was almost bitten twice already.

Just tell her that little hook is the bottle cap opener!

(the feature Kershaw added to one of their knives years ago that latter became the inspiration for the Wave)

Excellent news, Sal! A waved delica or native would be fantastic--something w/ a smaller envelope than the Endura.

I'm actually looking forward to receiving this knife. The "Wave" feature was very ingenius of Mr. Emerson. The only problem I had with it was the fact that it caused the liners to wear out on his particular brand of knives a lot faster because people like me got addicted to it and waved our knives more than the average person. Now that the Endura is a lockback type lock, I hope this doesn't hurt the locking mechanism and cause undo wear like it did on the locking liners of the Emerson brand knives. We will see how it goes. Thanks for reading my forum!! :spyder:
