Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
I'm in for an upgraded version with fancy-pants steel and perhaps titanium.

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
Yes.
I would be interested, especially if the design is tweaked a little bit to make it easier to open and close. Other changes that would like to see, thinner grind (0.08" at spine, 0.015" BTE) and increased skeletonization of the liners, and round scales.
Micarta scales with a serrated LC200N blade would get my vote for a sprint/exclusive. Or... they could just make that the production version.

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
Count me in! Solid CF scales, smooth and contoured. Please eliminate that useless hole. Premium steel like 20CV, M390, S90V, et al.. Like this...(an all ti handle version would be an interesting too).
Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
A larger companion model with the same 2.5 mm blade stock might fulfill my need for a small folding bird & trout or filet knife............say 4" blade? I wouldn't quible about the steel, but LC200N would be nice. Serrations and I'd buy a matching set.
Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
Of Paul Alexander's designs I would be far more interested in Sliverax or Ouroboros sprints.

But if you get rid of the handle hole, how will you externally lock your blade

I like this knife a lot. But I just don't use my small knives that often.
Try a 4 inch model and keep the design as is, and I'm all in, even with S30V.

Love the knife. It deserves the S90V treatement and peel ply CF.

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
I think the Ikuchi would benefit from a stainless and a pop of color!
rex121 is the king of steel, but nature’s teeth have been cutting for hundreds of millions of years and counting
Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
I would love one in K390, CpmM4, or maybe HAP40 with some nice CF scales.
Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
Kapara: has already a great handle
would buy anything in CF or micarta with a "better" (that is subjective because user-specific) steel than S30V.
I find it too expensive (in Europe) for S30V.
You can get a Watu for less in a better steel and blade thickness for similar EDC tasks.
Ikuchi: needs better looking handle
solid CF, marbled/shredded CF (maybe with color accents), wood, micarta ...
and a steel upgrade like XHP, 20CV, S45VN, S90V

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
i think 20cv would be really nice on this model.
if we're gonna dream though, the custom scales i'm going to put on mine when i'm able to get it are the raffir scales that look white in artificial light, turn blue in uv light, and glow in the dark.

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
For a special edition, I'd love to see a titanium or ivory micarta dot insert for that hole in the scales. IMO that's more in keeping with Paul's original concept of using the hole as Spyderco's version of a decorative shield than just deleting it.
For extra points, a tiny spider logo engraved on the insert would make me very happy.
It'd be easy enough for someone with a lathe to make a plug for after-market customization.

That's a good knife to add micarta and Cruwear.

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
The Ikuchi with a good stainless like LC200N would make a nice pocket paring knife. I would be tempted with S90V as well.

Re: Interest in an Ikuchi sprint or exclusive?
i love lc200n, but the more i think about it, the less i'd want it on this knife. it shows scratches too easily. i mean, it doesn't scratch like h1 or anything, but my caribbean has scratches and i'm not all that rough with it. i'm not even sure what they came from, but i'm guessing from some thick cardboard i had to break down.
