It's summer and if gas prices were cheaper we could all be out cruisin' our favorite streets.
Here in my town every friday we have what is called cruise nite's. All the best cars from the 60's and 70's show up. And Reno, Nevada has "hot augest nights". All kinds of hot rods.
So what are your favorite oldies? How do you like em' fixed up? Nothin' like a Hemi.
I like the Mopars but Nova's and Mustangs a hot also!

Hey Ken, I'm a Mustang person myself. I like Cobra's and Boss Mustangs and I like them stock, not tricked out. Although a change in manifold and exhaust, if it would free up a bit of HP, would be OK with me.
I've never been lucky enough to own a classic, I did buy a '99 Mustang Cobra, the car I've wanted for 35 years, but did nothing to that except throw in a K&N. After I had the factory "fix" done, I picked up 8 HP more than factory and the filter freed up 1 - 2 so I was happy with that. They don't compare to the new ones though, beefed up to take on the Vette HP wise. I'm looking forward to see the new reincarnation of the Camero when they're done with that.
I traded the Cobra for a '04 Dodge Hemi 1500 Ram to see how the new 2nd generation of Hemi would do. First time in my life I went MOPAR. She dynoed at 299 RWHP and that's not too bad for 4WD and 20" wheels. That's stock also except for a Magnaflow muffler, 3" in/out, and a K&N. The jury's still out on the K&N on that engine. Air flow is basicly controlled by the computer.

Favorite years are still 55-56. Ford, Chevy and Studebaker all had really nice lines, plus the two seater T-Birds, the Continental and the first Corvettes.
As for reality, I've kind of come full circle, one of my first cars, back in the early sixties, was a '40 Ford Sedan, and my current ride is a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Not as much pep as the dual four barrelled 327 Chevy mill in the ole Ford, but a whole lot better gas mileage.

I'm a big fan and collector of antique Mercedes Benz, my personal favorite being the 1961, 190SL. The gentleman who design that model also designed the 1956 BMW and the original Datsun 240Z...You can see similiar lines in all three cars. In my collection now I have the 190SL 1961, 220SEB Coupe 1963, 1981 300D, 1982 300TD, 1982, 300 SEL , 1985, 380SL...I have more :spyder: 's though and they get more use. LOL....Doc :D

Hey,
My first car was a 1972 Nova with a straight 250 engine, man I loved that car! The engine was idiot proof, you could put a pound of sand in it and it would still run! I got about 90,000 miles on it (it had 75,000 miles when I got mine) before the I wrecked it. Current car is a 2003 Ford Escape SUV.
Cheers,
Rob

I like the 56 Chevy. I had a 56 Chevy 4 door 6 cyl. column shift. I got it when it was one step from the junkyard. I put some filler in it, changed the oil, and painted it blue with a paintbrush. Best car I've ever had. I liked that old car and wish I still had it and that's why I like a 56 Chevy. :)

My daily driver is my current favorite. Don't have a current pic but this is what she looks like....
Took her over to Shelby American yesterday and interestingly enough 2 Australians hailing from Tasmania were the only patrons who were aware that Ol' Carroll even made a truck - let alone 1500 of them. The Shelby Dakota, GLHS, CSXs, and Lancers are as much a Dodge as a "66 Mustang GT 350 or GT 500 is a Ford. (The GLHS blew the doors off the old GT 350 at Willow Springs when they came out in 1986)
GLHS vs. GT 350
Beyond that I like the old Datsun (Nissan) 240Zs from about 1972 and the Jensen Interceptors from 1974 - 76 with the 7.2L Chrysler V-8s.
