I like the mule team driver theme. A Muleteer was another term used long ago for someone who drove teams of mules. Teamster was also used... But I think someone may have a claim on that name already, lol.
I was also thinking maybe some sort of play on MTR. An MTR, or Mill Test Report, is a document that shows what a steel is made of, as well as the performance of the steel. Kind of what we're doing as testers of the Mule Team knives. MTR is also a nice acronym for Mule Team... Just gotta figure out a word that starts with "R" that would represent us testers.
Personally, being drawn to donkeys and mules in the equine world, I'm fond of Muleskinners, or just Skinners. Seems fitting in a couple different ways.
Being that KnifeKnuts has been my Spyderco forum handle ever since I joined, I think this would be the perfect Mule Team group name and I'm willing to share or relinquish it for the greater cause. I also like Spyderco Muleys or Muleskinners. I have at least one of every Mule blade offered and 2 of most of them. Please keep this great Mule Team program alive. :spyder:
In France we have the word "pogonotome" for the one who pratice "pogonotomie".
Pogonotomia is the art of shaving, from the Greek words πώγων pogon "beard" and τέμνω témno, to cut.
I'm not a linguist and also not a native English speaker so I don't know if it's correct or sound good in English but for me a mulotome would be someone praticing the art of testing/using mule team blade and mulotomia/mulotomy, the art of testing/using MT.
But it probably sounds a bit pedantic for my way of mule team blades tests and uses, I'm more a pogotonome myself anyway, using a bunch of straight razors with different grinds and geometries.
Those are really interesting etiologies, Tally! I will try to remember this new word "pogonotomie." Your mulotome/mulotomy is clever and well-reasoned...unfortunately in American English, an "...otomy" is generally a surgical removal of something.
Mule Kickers
At the risk of offending PETA, kicking the tires on all the new steels.
That's not bad!
Or could shorten to "Mule Kicks."
Because...who are really the mules here, the knife blanks, or the people testing them? To extend the analogy, I'd say the knife is the mule's load, and we ourselves are the mules...
It follows the same theme of the others(knife nut, steel junkie), with the first word being the object of obsession, and the second one describing an individual who is obsessed with it.

Mule Monkies?
I think I like Mule Kickers the most out of the suggestions in this thread.
I like Mule Maniacs and the thought behind it. I’d also offer up:
Mule Freaks
Mule-unatics/Mule-atics (play on lunatics)
Mule Masters (...of the universe :spyder: )
:o
