Nice! I debated that Scamp for a bit, but I'm a sucker for the carbon fiber/bronzed titanium. I like the handle design on that Scamp though.

Uh oh...another Hinderer! This is the one I was supposed to be waiting for when I bought the Eklipse: the xm-18 3.5" Skinny Spanto. Of course it turned up at dealers right after the Eklipse. :o

Re: What "others" are in the mail?
The one thing that getting into Spyderco really changed with me is how nice some high-end steels are--my users are an S35VN Native 5, an S30V Para 3, and a number of Sekis in VG-10 and Salts in H1. But, everything else is 1095, 1085, 420HC, or 12C27.
Years ago, when my great-uncle passed away, I inherited a bunch of knives I'd largely call "leftovers" as other relatives, and I think a pawnbroker got first pick (and I knew he mostly EDC'd stag Cases); MONTHS before they gave the toolbox full of knives and reloading supplies to my Granddad to give to me. In them was a Gerber Magnum LST Jr. (which hooked me on lightweight folders, which culminated in me becoming a Spyderco nut) new in the box, a carbon steel/jigged wood '65-69 Case 6265 Folding Hunter (which I later learned was his favorite deer hunting knife--currently, paired with a period-correct belt sheath I picked up some time later, it's only a dress knife for family functions; when I used to EDC it a lot), and a '74-80 Buck 110 in 440C. That knife really stuck with me. It was a good strong workhorse that did anything. Not long after, I bought a new 420HC version (but I still, even to this date use the old one more). About two years later, the 110LT came out; and I bought the Silver Knights SFO in CPM-154 instead of the basic $20 model. Then the Slim Select a year or two ago when they were on sale. The 110 hooked me on Bucks, and I own about ten now. But still, the old ugly 440C 110 gets used for it all.
Buck has a lot of specialty steels they offer in the Custom Shop, but those build-outs can get expensive. A 501 in S30V was $125 or more. Really, the only way to cost-effectively get a Buck in specialty steels (aka anything that ain't 420HC) is a special factory order (SFO). Recently, I got an email from Silver Knights Blades (until Buck cut back on SFOs due to the pandemic, they and Copper and Clad were some of the bigger dealers of SFO Bucks) about several specials they'd found in the shipping department, which had been returned due to small issues like blade centering. Most sold out fast, but they still had several 501s left. I'd been looking at getting a 501 recently. I emailed the owner about the 501 "Goodfella" which instead of 420HC and ebony has CPM-154 and Micarta. He replied back that they were $70--maybe a dollar or two more than a standard 501 is from Buck after one pays shipping and sales tax. This was about $10 less than they were new.

Re: What "others" are in the mail?
Good choice! I was leery of the handle with the grooves, but have found them and the knife in general to feel great in my hand. Pleasantly surprised there, I actually find it to be one of my most comfortable in hand that I've got!

Thanks, that is good to know, I will be using it harder than the 21. Although I still wouldn't dare getting a small one.

Re: What "others" are in the mail?
Another Guardian 3! Got an email from the Bradford newsletter that they have more 3V models available. For 2 days they are running a sale, I got the OD green micarta 3D scales and the false edge (don't have many knives with a swedge) for $161.00. Sounds like an amazing deal to me! My Wharnie was $229.
Debated on getting the sheepsfoot, but read that Bradford pretty much copied the CRK Insingo design on that...so didn't really have a need for that since I've already spent a good chunk of cash on the Insingo I've already got.

Nice, Rick! I just saw that email and was very tempted! I was thinking sheepsfoot, though. Interesting about the insingo thing - it is very similar now that I consider it.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 8:07 amAnother Guardian 3! A Guardian 3 in 3V for $161 - man, your flying
Congratulations
Re: What "others" are in the mail?
Yea I couldn't let that one go. These days it seems like if I'm spending less than $200 on a knife, it feels like a major win haha!

You jerks got me looking at Shiros. Not really a lot out their or dealers, Recon 1, knife center, who else? I don’t like anything I see in stock, think I’d prefer a F95. Or maybe the Neon. LOL

AFAIK, Knifecenter and Recon 1 are the only licensed Shirogorov dealers in the US.
Arizona Custom Knives has a bunch for sale, but they're all Custom Division, etc. ($2,000+)
Probably your best bet is the BF Exchange; Shiros pop up there fairly regularly, often at good prices. That's where I got mine.

Cool, thanks Connor. I’m going to try for a CPK DEK1 today, and then Shiro next. LOLThe Meat man wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 5:18 amAFAIK, Knifecenter and Recon 1 are the only licensed Shirogorov dealers in the US.

Re: What "others" are in the mail?
Josh, think twice before you buy a shiro. I bought my first in 2019 and more followed quickly. The build quality and finish is exceptional.
The F95 NL with micarta inlay (1 bear) is my favorite. If you like a more hand filling handle the F3 is the one to get. The neon en hation have an outstanding blade to handle ratio and carry very slim in pocket. I do not own a custom division one yet. Tempting...
