Para 3 strange vertical streaks in blade
Re: Para 3 strange vertical streaks in blade
Those lines look like die/tooling lines from processing powdered metal. I've never seen a grinding belt or bonded wheel leave dead straight lines like that in the finish. Interesting.

Really excellent photography Spoonrobot!
It's just grind lines. No defects, no carbide tearout or anything to worry about. Use it often and enjoy a knife meant to perform and not just look pretty.

Those are some really cool photos, btw! You use a microscope?spoonrobot wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 8:14 pmSimilar on my Maxamet PM2. I was wondering if it was some sort of carbide tearout from the finishing belts but ended up going out of town for a bit and forgetting about it until now.

They have depth, but not something I could measure. Microscopic.

Thanks, I use a cheap pocket microscope that has a clip on attachment for smartphones. Makes taking photos easy and works even better looking through it with your eyes to check edges and stuff. The Meat man wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 6:19 pmThose are some really cool photos, btw!
