Uggghhh...all these glowing posts on the Chief, in my favorite steel...is tempting me to spend $170 I didn't plan on spending!! I miss my Military as my one folder that stands out against the rest because of it's size, seems like this could be a great replacement for it.
The Chief does look tempting...

So what happened to your Military?
Did you lose it? :(
I offered it to another forum member that has a thing for forest green (the KW exclusive 204P), and he happily accepted! I miss it, but I know he enjoys it so it's all good with me :) I still have the same exclusive in the Para 3, so I'm not totally missing out!

TkoK83Spy, here are some comparison photos of the Millie, Siren and Chief edge lengths and closed lengths:

The Chief is slightly smaller closed than the Siren, and much smaller than the Millie, while having more edge than the Siren and basically the same as the Military. It also offers the most grip real estate.

I've never cared about the edge to handle ratio as much as some, but I appreciate having a Military sized blade that folds up into a half inch smaller handle, while still being just as ergonomic.

The Military will still win out when thick gloves are in play, but otherwise I would carry a Chief over a Millie.

Thanks for the pics Vivi. Less pocket real estate is always a plus when carrying a knife this size. Man, a good 5 or so of you have already commented that I should make the move and grab it! I did just buy my first fixed blade this morning...but this is weighing on me just like that fixed blade was last night. I'll see what happens in the morning! Really can't have too much Rex45.

Another run with Chap-the-perfect-running-knife..:) ... this time pretty much only inside the city limits.
In the background one can detect the fortress of Salzburg (hard to see though)

Funny! I've noticed that VashHash and myself post pics back to back quite often too. We must get free time at the same time. :p

I usually post during my morning break. Unfortunately I went to the store but I'll be showing off the CF M390 military again today.

Couldn’t resist to get the FRN Chap next to the Birdseye Maple for a more sturdy EDC (don’t want to ruin the wooden scales, and being a little more careful with it).

The Chap is just insane, carried it all day and I wish I bought it earlier. It’s so freakin’ sharp with just the factory edge that I actually sliced a bit of skin from my finger while opening it for the first time, oops.

Perfect choice, and yes, it IS insane(ly good)!!!

As always I cant´t help to say: DON`T see this as (only) a "gents knife". Use it hard, as hard as any of your other EDC folders in any knife task. This thing can take it, and will even perform better than most of your other blades in many tasks, due to its thin, but still strong blade.

Only problem: When really testing the Chap you won´t "understand" thick bladed, small folders anymore performance-wise...;) . (no real benefit there, despite a more comfortable rest on the (thicker) spine for the finger)

And perhaps you´ll "join the quest for a Chap XL" ;) in about PM 2 size (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82492&p=1295580#p1295580 ; viewtopic.php?t=85342)
This would be such an amazing knife. And who if not Spyderco as a performance-oriented knife brand could make it?!

... And added to my post above: The Chap seems to be the only Spyderco backlock with the most solid lock up.
Imagine this design in a larger knife... also the thin, but amazingly strong and sturdy handle, since it is mostly out of metal

Please don’t do that, my wallet won’t like it haha. But yeah, this design in a larger knife and as thin as it is, would also be a dream.

Great advice btw about using it. That’s the reason I also bought the FRN (I want to keep the maple one more a gents knife), just to “abuse” it and use it hard. From what I felt in the short time that I had these, it can handle way more than just being gentle. I just can’t stop talking about it :D One last thing, it’s definitely the sliciest knife I’ve ever used. I’m just stoked haha...
