Re: Swick 5 ETA?
This is the first knife I've ever pre-ordered. I have high expectations for this model :) should be a perfect edc for me.
Re: Swick 5 ETA?
Not sure why this isn't a standard model for Spyderco. It's a great design and there's a lot of interest from what I've seen over the web.
I'd like one to alternate with my ARK once in a while. I hope it isn't hard to get once it gets released

Re: Swick 5 ETA?
My only problem is deciding which size hole for average hands.

Re: Swick 5 ETA?
if much rather have it too loose than snug at all. i imagine having it snug could only cause serious problems for you in real use. i'd want to be able to abandon ship even if the knife went a little sideways in my hand.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: Swick 5 ETA?
I am getting the Swick Large. I recently bought a Perrin La Griffe with a hole almost the same dimension as the upcoming Swick Large and it fits well. I wouldn't really want anything smaller, and I think my hands are somewhat smaller than average for males. Like someone said above, you want to be able to get your finger into and out of it relatively easily.

Re: Swick 5 ETA?
I just used my calipers to measure my index finger in various positions. (Straight and bent, to simulate holding the knife.) Based on that, I'm getting the larger size.
Re: Swick 5 ETA?
Three guesses which size I've got pre-ordered :p
Re: Swick 5 ETA?
The Swick 5 is my most anticipated new knife design in a while. I'm currently on a fixed-blade kick and this would be a great EDC option for me. As much as I love the Ronin 2 & Street Beat LW (my two most-carried fixed blades), I'd love to have an even smaller option that doesn't suffer as much of a utility penalty as, say, the A.R.K.
Re: Swick 5 ETA?
You'll love the Swick. It sits right between the Street Beat and Ark in terms of size, but handles a lot closer to the SB than Ark. Nice palm filling grip for how compact it is.zuludelta wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 2:43 pmThe Swick 5 is my most anticipated new knife design in a while. Still wild to me we're getting these in LC200N with scales and sheath. If you let me pick any model and any steel for a sprint this combo would be in my top three.
Re: Swick 5 ETA?
I believe the delay is in the sheath development. We really couldn't refine the sheath until we had finished production pieces, which we now have.
Hi Zuludelta,
How small do you think that line is? We have another small Fixed blade in-the-works in addition to the Swick. In my opinion, I think the issue is more of purchase than blade length?

Swicks nearing completion and confirmation of another small fixed blade. :D

Re: Swick 5 ETA?
A week or two ago, I cord wrapped the handle of my ARK for a more hand filling grip. It's better now, but it's still easier to use the knife in a pinch grip. The ARK's blade length works fine for my use.
The finger hole on the Swick should make for a far better grip and the wharncliffe is definitely my current favorite blade shape.
I do think the ARK is great for being a super thin, slicey, and concealable knife for it's intended use.
