Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
Is this combo possible to be made in a production knife? I know there are sprints models with the steels and micarta handles, but either one of these knives in G-10 would be desirable to many collectors and users who missed out.
If the variety of steel makes the model a sprint, I could see that this is not option for a production knife. For example, there will be no additional Shamans produced in Cruwear (regardless of the handle material).
These are my suggestions to offer to satisfy customer demand, without adversely affecting collectibility.

Re: Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
The Sprint "rules" apply to the Model/Steel/Material/Color combo. So technically they *could* do a Cruwear/Micarta Sprint in a different color of Micarta like Black or OD Green. Just like they did the Z-Wear Micarta Shaman which is pretty much the same as the original except the steel is made by a different manufacturer, but they are nearly identical and no one would be able to tell the difference in use. They could do another in PD1, which is pretty much the same as Cruwear and Z-wear. They could definitely do one in Cruwear or Z-Wear with any color of G10 or CF or Terotuf or any other scale material. The only rule is the EXACT same sprint can't be made twice. Tweak one little thing and you are good to go.
So for a production knife, they could do PD-1 with the Brown Micarta, or Cruwear or Z-wear or PD-1 with OD Green or Black or (insert non-brown color here) Micarta.

How would anyone feel about 3V on a Shaman?

Re: Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
MANY people, myself included, would be THRILLED to see a Shaman in 3V with OD Green or Black Micarta. I think 3V and AEB-L would both do extremely well in an OD Green Micarta Shaman, Military, Manix XL, Endura, etc.
Re: Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
I know collectors want newer “Sprints” models with micarta. But what I want is the desirable steel found on the two sprint shamans, with plain ole G-10 handles. This model would be made a regular production model possibly 6-8000 produced. More could be made if demand remains high. Availability would be increased to the average collector/user. But then again, thus could be counter-productive to future “sprint runs”.

Its not going to be a production knife, but I'd bet you anything that there is a Purple G10/DLC Cruwear model in the pipeline for DLT Trading. I've been able to get all three of their Purple models with nothing but fast fingers and perseverance. No bots needed.

There are many of us who kept requesting Cruwear to be a stock steel. Spyderco choose to not make it stock for reasons of their own, while the B company made it stock on one model only. BRK makes regular runs of Cruwear bladed knives as do some smaller makers. I do not know the reason for such a high demand steel only being used so sparingly in the industry.

I would be all in for a G10 handled with Cru-Wear or Z-Wear model... Could do without the DLC coating though, a bit tacky for my taste. Micarta might be nice, when when it comes to cleaning up a dirty knife, G10 is much preferred for my uses.
I sure could use a new work knife right about now :D
And for heaven's sake, make it a production model. I'm absolutely done with the Sprint Run silliness. I'm not a collector, my knives are indispensable tools at the workplace, not safe queens.

I’d very much like to see “crucarta” become a production offering. I think it’s an ideal user format for “on land”. Then I’d balance that with salt series knives for “saturated” work, whether on or around the water or when I expect to become sweat saturated. It’s basically what I’m doing with my small collection now. Cruwear millie & para3, Z-wear shaman, salt 2 for boating/yard work. I “need” a longer salt, pac salt or siren. Or the coming cliff jumper? Dunno.
Re: Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
3V would be a great steel for the Shaman, imho.
The knife screams out for a tough, hard use steel. That's why Cru-Wear / Z-Wear made (make) so much sense.
I only have the M4 version, but it's an excellent example, so no complaints here despite having wanted the tougher steel.

The "problem" with making it a stock item is that it eliminates FOMO and the entire industry, except for a very few makers, actively exploits FOMO.

Foliage, Ranger, or OD Green G-10 with either 3V, 4V, Cru-Wear, or Z-Wear would be an instant buy for me! Flip a quarter on the steel.....

The St Nick's Shaman in 4V is one of my favorites, that's a truly incredible steel. One of the few knives I have that has been used for a week at a time, multiple times now and only required minimal touchup after each week. If St Nick's holds the right to 4V, then I think 3V would be great for everyone to try out in a Shaman!

I have all the SNK exclusives and, while I don't pay much attention to edge retention, I really like the edge 4V takes. My PM2s still in the box but the Shaman, Para 3, and Lil' Native have all seen a few touch ups and they're wicked sharp. I need to start getting those Natives in my pocket moreTkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 12:17 pmThe St Nick's Shaman in 4V is one of my favorites, that's a truly incredible steel. Re: Cruwear or Z-wear Shaman with G-10?
Edge retention is probably what matters most for me, because of work. Though I don't mind touching up frequently if needed, something about using the crap out of a knife for days at a time and it still plucks arm hairs effortlessly gets me giddy! 4V is definitely one of those steels :cool:Sharp Guy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 2:49 pmI have all the SNK exclusives and, while I don't pay much attention to edge retention, I really like the edge 4V takes.
