Tanto Dragonfly!

#1

Post by Evil D »

Yes. Make it happen. I don't know why this idea appeals to me so much since I generally don't care for tantos, but in Dfly size I think I'd love it.

Probably unlikely but if it could also be done in combo edge with the bottom edge SE and the tanto edge PE that would absolutely rock.

That sounds like it would be a really fun little knife to carry! I am in for one.

Somehow cool.
But I think for me perhaps a too short generall edgelength for a tanto.
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I actually have a Dfly sized Tanto that I really like. It comes in handy for little scraping tasks.

My 8 y/o son would love this as the two knives he keeps asking me for are my Dragonfly and my mini Tanto! A Tanto-fly would blow his mind!

Love this idea and would definitely buy one, especially in H1/LC200N.

I had a Kershaw Shuffle that is a Dragonfly sized tanto blade and liked it a-lot. Like a moron, I left it on a customers boat and never saw it again. But the silver lining is that’s when I bought the SE Salt Dragonfly and its a monster at cutting off off old hoses on livewell thru-hulls and bilge systems. Love that little guy! 💪

I got a cheapy Ontario Utilitac II in SE, which is a tanto with the long edge serrated and the short end in PE.

It's a reasonably good knife, especially for the money. It's on the big side, like a stretch and the handle is a little boxy to conceal the Tanto, but it feels pretty good.

Well, I can see the appeal for some, just not for me. I dislike "tanto" knives in general as I do not find them very practical.

That might be the only tanto I ever buy. The Dragonfly is just a great platform for testing out new blade shapes.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
