Before "real life" came along and it was time to grow up and many of us went our separate ways (unless of course you're skilled enough to make a living out of it) which none of us were. Very happy Vivi created that thread today, brought back some of the best memories of my life :)
As much as I loved playing football during those same times, meshing with both groups during high school (which is difficult) ...I always rather hung with skaters friends when it was outside football practice/games. Those were my real friends!
Yes, I can feel that spirit and passion, the kind of we really only have in these "before real life" - days.. that´s why I like to follow your skating-conversations! :)
I totally can relate to this, though when I was a kid we had different stuff since skating was not a thing back then (I was born in 1969)
/ These days there is a real comeback of skating it seems - ?! At least I come across a lot of skater-parks where ten-year-olds do amazing stuff that would break my neck in one second if I tried... :p
I love to see that!!! I have nothing about (PC, PS...) gaming for kids, but I find the sight of an "only-gaming-kid" a bit sad sometimes. Fastest fingers in the world, but otherwise overweight, can´t even stand on one leg, physically a wreck at the age of ten already.
I think getting kids out to do real, physically demanding stuff, developing skills, getting some bruises and learn to deal with that, meeting buddies face to face is what skating can do - and I also think this is important as alternative to only living in virtual worlds.
