Thanks to Martinj (viewtopic.php?p=1500215#p1500215) I got aware that for whatever reason knives&tools seems to have in stock again the:

- REX 45 Native 5 G10 https://www.knivesandtools.at/de/pt/-sp ... messer.htm
- REX 45 Native 5 LW https://www.knivesandtools.at/de/pt/-sp ... messer.htm
- REX 45 Manix G10 https://www.knivesandtools.at/de/pt/-sp ... messer.htm

Thought I´d share this!! Get one of those if you don´t have REX 45 yet! It is a great steel, and better forum members rather than flippers get their hands on the knives.. ;)

EDIT: Here is the site in English (just search for the models there): https://www.knivesandtools.com/en/pt/-s ... -knife.htm

Thanks, Gernot. That‘s a little ray of sunshine of hope over us here.

Just checked k&t.ch but they have none of them yet.

Well, I guess sometimes good things take their time to happen. I can sometimes use a lesson in patience too.

Should I order one or more for you and then send it over to Switzerland?
If so: Just pm me!! :)

I am very tempted too, they have been there for a while. Now I may need to speed up my decision before these get snatched :)

You’re welcome @Warstein :D

My G10 Manix REX45 is on it’s way to arrive tomorrow. For the ones that like the Lil’ Native. They also have those in stock again. It’s my favorite front pocket EDC.

A Rex 45 para 3 lightweight was just delivered to someone in the USA and now there are more Rex 45 models selling that haven’t been seen in almost a year. I wonder if with the Rex Rex 45 native chief that is popping up right now, if Spyderco is using the steel to finish other Rex 45 knives that haven’t been entirely finished using up parts inventory...

So they do ship to the US?!

And I know they did originally cost a lot less in the US, but is 200 USD a good price for you US folks these days (so does the REX 45 G10 Manix go for more on ebay and the like)?

Should any of you overseas members choose to order one from this European store: I had only the best experiences with them.

Yep, great I read your post in the other thread!
Thought it would be worth a dedicated thread, so that rather forum members than flippers get a grip on these models... ;)

/ I myself actually won´t order another REX 45. I am happy with my REX Manix LW. Though I have to admit: For a moment I was tempted to get the G10 version too...

One thing that is weird: The G10 Native costs more than the G10 Manix... despite the Native has no liners, less material and steel and is presumably a hit easier to make with its backlock vs the CBBL (not sure about the latter point, just a guess)?

Many thanks, Wartstein!

I show up just to confirm your opinion on K&T if that helps others to make up their mind.

K&T have become my primary supplier (Lamnia used to be it till I realized that their prices are usually higher than those of K&T and Lamnia's stock -lately- is very reduced -to say it in the most polite way I can find-).

As to the REX 45 beauties, not my cup of tea. I am not a fan of steels which force me to carry a cloth in the other pocket to keep them always dry and clean so they do not rust, you know. :D ;)

You really DON`T have to carry a "cloth in the other pocket" with REX 45, my friend! ;)

Below you can see two pics: Showside of the blade of my Manix 2 LW in REX 45, one time with, one time without flashlight.
This knife gets:
- Carried IWB
- Carried a lot in wet / moist conditions
- Used for cutting fruits, vegetables, hot and cold meat, wood... and just about everything
- Left wet or covered with meat or fruit juices sometimes for hours
- The blade (except the hidden pivot area) never, ever got oiled

There actually IS a slight Patina (and I hope it will get more) but it can only be seen in a certain light and certain angle.
As you can see: If I just take a normal pic: Hard to see anything, right?

By my standards that's a rusty knife .... If any of my knives developed a patina like that I would be horrified. :D

it is evident that our aesthetic tastes on this matter have little in common.

Take care, my good friend!

That´s obviously the case! ;) And just fine, to each their own!

Though what you can see in the pic is mostly or even exclusively just dirt and gunk I think... but still, we might have different tastes in that regard too! :D ;)

I´ll try to take a pic later that exaggerates the actually existing patina a bit so it can be seen... You´ll be SHOCKED!!! :p

Can’t agree more. It’s really not that prone to rust. And the patina it gets is also easy removable with Flitz. But like you I like the patina and never have oiled my REX45 blade.

Another plus on this steel is that it’s really easy to sharpen. Easy to touch up on the SharpMaker and I even reprofiled it once to 15 dps on the SharpMaker with CBN rods. Didn’t take too long.

So, it might be clear by now that REX45 is my favorite steel haha :D

SHOCKED .... or HORRIFIED? :D

This is the closest thing to a patina that any of my knives have. The two ATS-55s that I have have developed little darker colorations like this (although it is so imperceptible that I had to mark it with the arrow). With natural light they are a little more evident.

They will ship to the USA. I wasn’t able to get a rex45 g10 manix and I was interested in the price. $200 is about $40 too high from what they used to sell for. But given that these aren’t ever coming back, if someone is looking for one then this is a great price compared to what you’ll find on eBay. I have two manii already so I passed. Someone will get a great knife in a great steel though.

I hope some forum members will get REX 45 sprints now, after we all thought these particular ones were gone.

But I am afraid in the end for US folks it will be more than "just" the 200 $ (price of the knife and shipping costs).
I figure that there will probably taxes and tariffs have to be paid when shipping from Europe to the US... At least it is the other way round, when I order knives from the US to Europe (though sometimes customs does not look into the packages and charge no tariffs...) - ?!

I know the last US administration imposed higher tariffs on foreign products, right?! Though I think this was mainly true concerning China?

No taxes and no import tariff. With VAT removed I’ve bought some knives cheaper at lamnia than anywhere else in the USA. In fact, with one particularly desirable knife I saved $90 usd.
