No doubt the brand new Regular Production Para 2 Cru-Carta is the biggest news Spyderco has pulled out in the last 5 years :D
No offense, but Spyderco has released dozens of interesting new designs in the last 5 years. To me, something like releasing the Native Chief after decades of development matters a lot more than giving the already-existing PM2 a trendy steel and handle material
^ I still like the PM2 but I tend to agree, the Cru-carta PM2 is just another flavor. Hardly big news IMO. I'd actually be more excited if they did one with Micarta scales that are a different color.

I’ll buy the Phoenix. My original Viele was stolen some 20 years ago and I totally missed the White Phoenix. Does the military discount work on sprint runs, and about when is it slated to be released please?
I think the military discount works on anything purchased direct from Spyderco. So you could use it on a Sprint if you catch it in stock there. Models in the reveal are projected to be released in the next 90-120 days, but things happen (global pandemics, for example) so that's not always the case.

To me, the interesting thing about this reveal is that, save for the Mule (I think), there is nothing from Taiwan? It might be because there is nothing really “new” here (a lot of new models tend to be made in Taiwan?) It’s almost all existing models in new flavours of steel, upsized or new blade shapes in existing platforms.

I’m not criticising at all, just making an observation.

I agree, though I still think the Crucarta PM2 is pretty cool. But a completely new, but long awaited design like the Chief is even cooler for me :)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Nice to see micarta make it to the PM2 platform :D
Sorry to see that the nested liners are gone though.

Any dates on when these are set to release, specifically the PM2 Cru? Or is it log on and “oops, sold out”? I’m new to the online deal. I typically buy my knives from a local retailer and just signed up for the OpFocus program. Just curious how it typically plays out, would love to have one

Anyone know what’s in the pivot of the Phoenix? Bearings? Bronze?

Bronze washers if I recall correctly. I know there weren't any bearings. It was exceptionally smooth.

CPM Cruwear and micarta make a really cool combo. It definitely seems like a hard use and hard working utility combo. And outdoors knife, if you will. At least that’s the image I get. Canvas and cruwear just scream “I work for a living.”

That was something I noticed when Eric was showing off this new Red Phoenix sprint.
I could just tell it was working like butter.
That seems to be a relatively common thing with those BBLs.

I just saw a youtube video on this knife (the old production one) and the guy was complaining about it being on teflon washers. Maybe they will change it with the new one? Either way, I don’t mind as long as it’s not on ball bearings.

OMG!!! A PHEONIX SPRINT!!!

Also... That Crucarta PM2 appears to be regular production!!!
Wow. Fantastic.

We will need clarification there. Hard to tell if the sprint run title is for both or just the Phoenix
It is regular production. ;)
