Either Cruwear or 4V are perfect for the Shaman. My REX45 Shaman is in my book, as close to perfect as you can get in a folder, and the only thing to make it better is Cruwear or 4V!

Why?
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Theoretically a bit tougher. I see the shaman as a folding fixed blade, so I’ll take toughness over edge retention.

Thanks! Makes sense. :)
(Though the REX on my Manix 2 LW seems to be pretty tough I have to say)

No doubt, my REX lightweight Manix is my most carried knife for sure, (in my pocket right now!) and it’s awesome. But on the shaman,I like the idea of 4V

This knife in Micarta seems like it would be paired well with AEB-L and 3V. My two favorite fixed blade makers (CPK and LTWK) use these two steels prolifically in blades of all sizes. Spyderco saw the success that Micarta brought them with likely many of the buyers coming over from the fixed blade market who were used to beefy Micarta scaled knives. I'd be willing to bet that a Micarta Shaman in AEB-L and 3V paired with OD Green Micarta and Black Micarta respectively would be even more sought after than what we are seeing now. Militaries in these combos would be equally impressive pieces.

We have a winner right here. AEB-L with green micarta would be awesome.
