Actually, I was thinking of a Salsa 2 that was thinner ( not as tall ), maybe a tab longer, easier to carry?

Sal, that would be very nice! How much longer? Roughly Delica-blade-length?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Hi Fish,

So...would a Ti integral compression lock Salsa with no Cobra Hood and a lock insert scratch the itch?

sal
If remade with a more modern build (better steel, lock insert, etc), absolutely!

Although a sage would be nice...
Lightly insane.

My only hesitation with the Salsa is the finger grooves, vs the more neutral handle of the Sage. But I'd probably but a Salsa reissue if that's what you and Eric decide to make.

Hi Ugaarguy,

I agree on the finger grooves. That's why I was thinking of a "2" version.

Sal,

I've gotta say, I'm quite a fan of cobra hoods. Gives the thumb a more comfortable position on the spine while being able to retain a thin blade stock. If the Salsa came back I'd prefer the hood to remain.
I've personally never used a knife with a cobra hood. They've always appealed to me for some reason especially the Salsa and ATR. I wish they would do a mini ATR with the blade jimping like the Jester.

That sounds very interesting. A friend loaned me an original Salsa to try out several years ago. I liked the thumb rest and increased ease of opening from the cobra hood like Vivi notes, so I'm okay with or without it. Thanks for entertaining the possibility of the return of an integral comp lock for those of us who missed them the first time around.

Honestly, I like the Cobra Hood.

But, I'm down for whatever, if it means I get more Ti integral comp locks!

How about that Caribbean XL? I sure do love that grip pattern. Slap it onto a contoured, Ti I.C.L handle and I'd lose my mind. Vanax, because who needs retirement, right?

I’d be super interested in seeing the return.

I’ve submitted a half dozen designs/prototype models that feature an integral compression lock with a lock tab insert (including an Ikuchi)... they always get implemented as liner-based compression locks when put into production.

As a designer, it would be great to have a modern, updated incarnation to reference and learn from.

An Ikuchi with an integral lock, interesting steel, lock insert, and over travel stop would have my attention.

I'd like to see the salsa design before I give my 2 cents.

ANY variation on the ikuchi would have my attention. What a spectacular design bogged down by peel ply cf and standard steel. An integral comp lock Ikuchi with s90v would get snatched up by me regardless of price point.
