The sharpening device looks both simple and pretty ingenious!! :)
Whatever angle one wants can be set up and easily measured with just a triangle ruler where the two wood boards meet...

It's very simple! It's able to be set at whatever angle is desired and be used with nearly any kind of sharpening stone/plate. It's used just like a Sharpmaker, holding the knife vertically. The only downside is the devise must be flipped around everytime for alternating strokes, unlike a Sharpmaker. I'll try to take some pics later and post in the Off Topic subforum.

Am I weird?

Felt like hiking in the night (which it is right now where I live), walked some time in the pitch black woods, then sat in the snow and compared Manix, Stretch and Juice CS4 in wood-cutting-performance in the light of the headlamp...(so kind of THREE knives were in my pocket... ;) )

Now IF that´s weird, I like it that way :D

Can´t be that small - ?!
I guess 1.) Vivis hands might be bigger than you think and 2.) the angle of the pic makes the knife look smaller...

It's a small knife, closer to the size of a Caly 3 or Delica than my Police or Millie. Carries well and fits a variety of hand sizes. I've let a few friends try it out and they all praised the grip.

Thanks! :)
If the pic is nice I had nothing to do with it - when I took it it was completely dark, so I could not even see the knives - its all the work of the flashlight on my cellphone... ;)

Nice that you found an OLD version of the Juice! :)
The new ones are imho of lower quality and first and foremost have a much shorter knifeblade without any belly...

Perhaps you´ll be able to find an old S2 (will give you scissors instead of the corkscrew (though a corkscrew can come in handy, even if one never actually uses it on cork!) - my "urban carry", and the great CS4: Perfect for outdoor use with its awl and pretty long saw.

Or, hard to find but even better for the outdoors: KF4: No scissors, but: Both plain and serrated blade, great saw, and diamond coated file for quick sharpening jobs for example

....
I'm still kind of on the fence when it comes to SE. I've enjoyed it at times, but also found it a hassle at other times. I know it depends on how the tips of the SE are though. My Matriarch glides through material, but obviously isn't the most practical edc knife. My SE Wharnie Delica that I was VERY excited to try has been hit or miss. The tips of the serrations are very sharp and pointy, I know I should just round them off on the CBN rods, but I haven't gotten around to it. But they do snag on various types of tapes I cut each day. Making me stop and pick the tape out of the serrations.

I do love that SE stays sharp for quite a bit longer than PE of the same steel. I've experienced that with VG10 as well, so that really does make me wonder how incredible SE must be in K390!! Definitely looking forward to some feedback on that once someone really gets using theirs and reports it. That may tempt me to get a 3rd SE knife, and it would definitely be the Endela

I too hope that more than one of the people here who really know how to sharpen and can profoundly compare SE K390 to other steels in SE will post here about this! (And perhaps eventually you´ll do so ;) )
Sure I´ll give it a try myself (really excited for an Endura and perhaps Endela in K390 SE (or a Stretch, if it will come in SE eventually)), but I am just not the worlds best sharpener anyway... ;)

Interesting. My local knife shop has 5 or 6 more Juice models with both the old and newer handles. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and give them another look over.

Most were around $90 CAD, but a couple were $135 and had an extra layer of tools

In my experience the older handle is better / more durable.
And, again: The older models have a much better / longer knife - not too important if one carries a dedicated pocket knife anyway, but should you only carry the Juice the "old" blade is a lot more useful (also of course as a backup knife).

Saw and awl are a "must" for me in the outdoors, so there the CS4 is great.
I also have an KF4, but this one got discontinued quite some time ago, but it is worth searching for one (for the serrated knife and especially the diamond file)
Admittedly, I also have the XE6 - it has ALL the tools, but is a bit bulky and heavy for a Juice, so I never carry it but if I want to go a bit "heavier" I take instead my Rebar, which actually weighs a tad less...

EDIT: Man, forget the KF4...I just had a look, they go from 200 to 300 (!) USD on ebay...
I did not even know that by having mine I own a real store of value... :o

Juice is my favorite multitool. I had Rebar for a short time but it turned out to be too big for me. I use S2 at work every day, and I have the C2 model for holiday trips etc. I am recently looking for an old CS4 model, a saw and an awl can be useful.
