Absolutely! The diamond matrix stones direct from Edge Pro will allow you to do great work on you S110V and other potentially challenging materials. They’re not cheap, but the best rarely is.

You can easily get by with the 250, 650, and 1200, but if you get the full set from 80 to 4K, you’ll have more options to experiment with.

Same as other steels. Diamond plate to set the edge, ceramics and strops to refine the edge if I'm not leaving it extra toothy.

The question is: "How Do You Sharpen S110V? The Answer: By learning a lot of new curse words in the process

You absolutely have to do all your reprofiling and ding removal with diamond stones>>> Unless you want to spend countless hours on the project.

Even though I have declared S110V tough to sharpen I still think that 440V ( S60V) is even more difficult>> and I did learn a lot of new curse words with all the 440V models I've sharpened over the years :D

But seriously if you just do most of your difficult stock removal with diamond sharpening tools the finishing process isn't really that bad.

It would be really great if you could provide a list of the most useful curse words, because I'm about to sharpen my S110V Manix.

Hahah, a full on sharpening/reprofile or a more than usual touch up? I hate when I'm stuck in the middle and not sure which to do...especially with a bear of a steel like S110V.

Atoma make very nice diamond plates for the Edge Pro. Otherwise I can't recommend Congress Moldmasters enough and they're quite cheap, but you'll need to either buy or make the aluminum blanks to glue the stones to.

I just started using SiC on S110v recently and must say I'm impressed. I only use it in grits lower than ~500. I eventually want to get a full diamond stone set but as of now the lowest grit I have is 325 and it just takes too long if starting with a very dull edge.

A few years ago I started trying to reprofile the factory edge on my s110v military using a worn DMT diamond home. I lost patience after about 30 minutes of that and took it to a 1 inch belt sander with SIC belts. After killing a couple of those belts I changed over to 3m diamond belts and those did the trick. Probably used $25 of belts to get to the profile I wanted.

For what it's worth maintenance sharpening isn't bad. S110v isn't hellish to sharpen with the right equipment. Things would have probably gone better if I used a newish diamond stone to begin with.

I know that a lot of people have good luck with Norton Blaze ceramic belts. I got mine from here. https://trugrit.com/product-category/ab ... e_brand=or

I also like the zircona belts at harbor freight I haven't tried any SiC belts.

Skip the Alumina and the SiC

Look into Resin bonded Diamond stones and Metallic bonded Diamond/CBN.

Finish the edge between 40um - 10um on stones

Enhance the edge with 1um diamond spray on leather

What do you recommend for coarse grit? I haven't had good luck with DMT.

I've been wanting to try vitrified diamond after watching yours and Micheal Christys videos.

I did a Para 3 in maybe 45 minutes with that 180 grit plate

The sound as it went through paper was absolutely gorgeous; the sound when you dug in to the plastic was absolutely horrendous hahaha. Beautiful knife, beautiful edge!
