where do you store your knives?
I just realized something: I have waaaaay to many knives for the small appartement I have. It has reached the point where I can't put a glass on a table without having to move 1 or 2 knives laying around.
In was wondering what you guys use to store your babies. I guess I could buy a safe....but that makes them safe queens and I am morally against that.
I don't want to display them so much as I want to find a place to store them
What should I do?

I store the small amount that I have in an old cookie tin.
I suggest going out and getting a nice Craftsman toolbox with the pull out drawers. That's what I plan to get when I have enough to fill a drawer :) They usually have nice rubber mats in the bottom of the drawers so stuff doesn't slide around :D

I store my Spyderco Knives in the Spyderco pouches (refer to Catalog ) available with 16 or 32 poickets with view window. I prefer the small size, 16 pouches as they are easier to handle and store. 32 knives in a pouch is very heavy also. Storage of the pouches are in dresser drawers and a Gun Safe. :) note they are called SpyderPac's in the accessory section of catalog.

I store (and display) mine in this wall case that I made. The glass is tempered plate glass and it locks for storage security.
A few more have been added to the collection since this picture - I should take a new one.

Doubt your place could be any smaller than mine Jimmy, can **** near cook from my bed or computer here. If you just want to store them, on solution would be to get an old chest of drawers, refinish it, and make compartmented trays to allow multiple layers of knives in each drawer. An old china closet, with a glass fronted cabinet on top, and drawers and/or cupboard below would allow a mix of display and storage, and you could rotate the ones you display as you see fit.Jimmy_Dean wrote:I just realized something: I have waaaaay to many knives for the small appartement I have. As for me, I went with a couple relatively inexpensive kits for curio cabinets. Was still setting them up when the photo below was taken. All display, no storage, so my boxes and zipper pouches are in a big plastic container that fits under the bed.

Good thread, we need more like!
I don't have a "collection" if I did I think I would do something like 4 s ter has done. He's got the right idea. You need to display those beauties not just shove them in a safe. "A safe is a waste" I could never understand why someone would do this but to each his own.
The few spydie that I have are just shoved (stored) in the drawer of my night stand!

Storage
Greetings all,
I store mine in a small bolt-to-the-wall safe. I would like nothing more than to put them in some sort of display case, but due to the very real possibility of a burglary here, this is not an option for me. I have been thinking along the lines of securing one room ("Panic Room"?) in the house, and building in a strongroom door. Here I could keep anything valuable items such as guns, cameras and, of course, :spyder: :spyder: :spyder: :spyder: !
Zackerty : Hoe gaan dit daar oor die see ? I have a sister-in law in Wellington, and she and my wife visit one another every so often. Must come out myself sometime. Never been there.
Cheers

I store all my knives in special custom roll up, fold over knife cases that my wife makes for me in Velvet Valour material with pockets form fitted for each individual knife. Thank God the wife like to sew.... ...Doc

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

I use one of the lower 8 drawer HD Craftman toolboxes on wheels. I was really lucky and just happened to show up when Sears decided to fire-sale the piece due to bends and dents. I think I paid $99 for it. What I like about it is that it deals well with heavy weight in a drawer. I also cut up some old carpet to use as drawer liners. You can put a bunch of knives in a relatively small place with one of these and can locate one easily too due to the low height of most of the drawers. It also locks up tighter than a drum so you can keep the kids away from the sharp stuff.

That is a really nice wall rack and curio :) . I store my :spyder: ies in their original boxes inside small plastic sandwich zip bags which I put into larger boxes. I would like to display mine but I am also worried about theft. I don't store all my knives in one box as that would make them easier to steal. I am too paranoid about losing my :spyder: ies. Next step will be a bolted to the floor safe. My "space" is getting very limited too. :D

That's a nice idea #9, for EDC. And I got a great idea for a fathers day gift for the knife dad that has everything. One of those fancy oak watch storage boxes. You can even get them with a glass top but they have them with 4, 5, 10 compartments that would fit EDC's. The bummer is I doubt one of the compartments would fit a Persian, Manix, or a larger EDC of the same size. Just an Idea.WORKER#9 wrote:I Keep My Knives Either Under Lock And Key, Or On This Shelf Which Is My Edc Rotation Shelf, I Keep The Folders In These Plastic Storage Boxes, Found It To Be Quite Nice As They Can Be Quickly Stashed Away Or Brought Out. #9
