I would say no to the S30V version but maybe if it was released in another non-stainless blade.

Since they are coating the liners now too on DLC compression lock models
.
The Native Chief is a backlock? What am I missing?

I'm sure we'll see St. Nicks and/or DLT, perhaps even BladeHQ do their respective exclusives in the Native Chief platform at some point this year... I just want to get my hands on a Rex45 & S90V Native Chief, two of my all time favorite steels in a great platform.... PLEASE!!!! BRING ON THE NATIVE CHIEF SPRINTS, PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY! :D ;)

Cheers,

John

I voted Yes. For me, a black handle with a black blade just looks nicer. Or digicam scales with a black blade.

At the same time, I like a nice patina, so I prefer DLC on 'boring' stainless steels more.

I guess I am in the minority, as I don't like the look of coated blades, and have no desire or use for them?

...I'd actually prefer a sprint run with upgraded steel and scales. Like on the S90V Native 5 with fluted carbonfiber scales (or the even nicer sculpted carbonfiver scales on the Kapara e.g., that'd be awesome...).

Of all newer Spyderco releases I think the Canis is the one that screams "DLC" loudest.

204P or better K390 DLC then I'd be interested.

Dark green scales, black DLC. Steel? Something other than s30V.

Fluted CF chief in s90v would be a purchase. I generally don't like dlc but the cruwear/purple combo as on the recent manix might get me to bite.

I find it difficult to buy even the standard version at the moment.

I prefer a shiny blade over a coated one, but still a coated one over patina. So to me it does not make sence on stainless, but definitely on steels that tend to form patina or that can get rust.
