Apparently I *REALLY* have the upcoming SE K390 on the brain because this wasn't a deliberate pairing this morning...

:) ;) :p :D

Told you already in the "picture gallery": Very, VERY nice Stretch 1!!!

I have three VG10 Stretch 1 and one HAP 40 Stretch 1. I would very much like to find a serrated or comboedge version, but that seems to be almost impossible,
I also tried to get another HAP40 Stretch 1, had two almost done deals on ebay recently, but then the sellers decided not to ship to Europe in the end... :( :( :(
My brother in law lives in Italy and has used a shipping proxy company for ebay purchases many times, I will ask him which one, but I know that google will give you several options based on a couple quick searches I just tried out.

Cheers,

John

Really enjoyed the Endela and K390 steel a few weeks back, using both for the first time. Back into the pocket for a few days this week.

Nice?

Where did you come across that beauty?
Hi there, thank you. It’s one of my favorites. I did not come across it, I designed the scales and had Steve Ketchen make them for me 5-6 years ago now (before he went unceremoniously AWOL).

My K390 Endela is sitting in the mailbox at home and I can't wait to try it out!

I didn't expect to like the model as much as I do. Used that blade for a week at work and it didn't even need a touch up! Gave it a couple passes on the strop just to bring it back to peak sharpness anyways. Need to learn more about this steel, could easily become another personal favorite along with Rex45 and 4V.

Got the Ladybug but out of the box it wasn't very sharp, so I decided to get a longer bladed version to test out sharpening. Small blades and Hapstone v7 are a pain.

If K390 is anything like PMA11/10V I'm sure ill love it.

Truth. I actually just took the blade out once when sharpening my Manbug.

I have had success with placing a 1"x1/4"x1/2" neodymium magnet to the magnetic base of the V7, then place the manbug/small knife on the super strong neodymium magnet and then get the angle I need. This elevates the blade away from the V7's wider base so the stones don't rub anywhere you don't want rubbed. Since this magnet is much stronger than base magnet the blade is less likely to rock, but it's still not perfect. I made a little jig for the Hapstone to accept sharpmaker rods so there is a little more control with the 1/2" wide triangles.

That would be very kind of you!! :)

I used a forwarding US company too in the past ("myus") and was very happy with their service.
But lately they refuse to ship pocket knives to Europe AT ALL, cause they could "experience customs issues" - I don´t get that,
in Austria/Europe where I live, all kinds of knives are totally legal, and sure I always had to pay tariffs for folders they forwarded to me, but that´s not their problem anyway.

Regardless, the two HAP40 Stretch 1 on ebay are gone anyway - and to find an SE or CE (VG10) Stretch 1 seems to be impossible anyway... :(

Thanks Marius! I haven't had a chance yet, I'd like to try one eventually. It looks like an appealing model to me and all I have read are good reviews from it...
