Spyderco Efficient
Spyderco Efficient
Hi all and thanks for having me, I've always carried ozark trail knives, you know the $3.87 now $4.87 specials and finally bought my first good knife. I'm loving my efficient but disappointed it has plastic washers, has anyone replaced them with phosphor bronze? Already disassembled (with back spacer and without, prefer it with the backspacer) and found some strange measurements: pivot is 0.160", washer OD is 0.330" and 0.015" thick. Any knowledge is appreciated

I daresay they’re metric sized parts.mkouvelis wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 8:41 pmHi all and thanks for having me, I've always carried ozark trail knives, you know the $3.87 now $4.87 specials and finally bought my first good knife. Were the plastic washers causing issues? If not, I'd just leave it as is. Even with plastic washers, it's still a thousand times better than any Ozark Trail special.

Just out of interest, anybody know why plastic washers were used?
Its the best of the value range imo, the efficient.
The combo model is great for the money..

I feel the plastic washers cheapen what could be the best value spyderco knife and for how cheap they are ($0.38) I could be a massive upgrade. The tenacious got them why didn't the efficient get them? The Meat man wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 5:24 amWelcome to the forum!

I couldn't say. I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer phosphor bronze myself, given the choice. But if the nylon/teflon washers aren't causing you any issues, why bother about it?mkouvelis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 7:37 pmI feel the plastic washers cheapen what could be the best value spyderco knife and for how cheap they are ($0.38) I could be a massive upgrade. Re: Spyderco Efficient
This really was my first Spyderco. The handle is really just superb. I gave it to a college student working at lawn and garden center. I know it was based in part on the Sliverax but I would love to see a higher end version of this. It lead me to the Alcyon but while that's a great knife, just doesn't fit my hand like this does. I'd get another one but honestly, I've had my fill of the 8crmov steel for a lifetime.
