Had to get a Delta aftermarket sheath from BladeHQ for scout carry because the one that came with this Tops Bull Trout was vertical only but it was excellent quality.
Dang I like the look of the Bull Trout. Is the blade coated ? What's the handling like for small tasks ?

Mine isn't coated but it's held up fine. It handles well, it's a unique blade shape, kind of a refined cleaver but the deep finger choil is great for more precise tasks.

I was talking to a coworker yesterday about crisp/clean grinds. So I had to bring an example.

Image

You can actually scratch your nail on the hollow grind between the bottom and top grinds. It's very impressive and crisp.

Rick, the Insingo blade is probably the best blade shape for utility at work I have ever owned and used. It’s an absolute pleasure to use.

Couldn't shake off the fact that despite being more rigid and made with G-10 with metal standoffs, this BHQ Bugout is still lighter than the Para3 LW.

Permanent pocket fixture! I actually don't even carry it clipped to my pocket, I like the little leather pouch they provided. Very handy and keeps it from getting scuffed up. The pouch is $30 if bought individually, so I suppose that probably also contributes a bit to the price of these knives.

I gave it some use yesterday for the first time at work. CRK definitely runs their S35VN a bit softer than Spyderco's. It lost that screaming sharp edge rather quickly, but then obviously touched back up very easily. That's fine with me though because this is not a dedicated, beat the snot out of work knife. Sorry to keep posting the same knife, I'm just loving this new toy :)

OH SNAP!!!! Can't wait to see it and what you think! Did you end up getting the Spalted Beech inlays? I like mine A LOT, but kind of wish I grabbed a large myself. Definitely next on my list, but going to make myself wait a bit. I find myself gravitating towards different materials and designs all the sudden instead of steels. 13 different steels from Spyderco is more than enough to keep me busy and fulfilled!
