Question about the Ti Salsa

#1

Post by Easyrider »

I'm thinking about getting a Ti Salsa and wanted to know if it came with an excentric blade pivot?

What exactly do you mean eccentric pivot pin? Eccentric means odd, off or to deviate.

I don't think it does.I remember someone selling a well used one and he said he could not adjust the lock on it.

Still want to know what an eccentric blade pivot is! Are we talking about the hole through the blade where the pin goes being out of round? Or the pivot pin itself wearing into an eliptical shape. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the question.

It is the pivot pin.It has a hex shape that is a little out of round so it can be turned to adjust for lock wear.
The para seemed to have an out of round stop pin to adjust the lock,at leat mine would change the lock when turned.
I know of 3 models that for sure had the pivot pin.
Military,not the new models

Eccentric? Bob Lum??

OK Jeff now you even got me a little confused as well. I have my C-46 Bob Lum Tanto folder. I am looking at the pivot pin and I don't see anything obvious. It looks to me as though I would have to take it apart to see what you are describing unless I am overlooking something obvious. JD :spyder: O

To adjust it and to see what I mean you will need to loosen the pivot screw untill it is allmost all the way out and push it so the pivot pin pops up out of the scale. Then you can see the hex shape under the pivot pin head.If you rotate it it and put it back in,depending on where you stop it will either take the blade further away from the liner lock or closer to it.
I got the NIB Ti Lum folder that I had(wish I still had it) very very cheap because the liner traveled all the way across the tang. The person I got it from did not know about the adjustment,he did not tell me it was doing that either so I figure we are even.
After adjusting it was perfect.

Ok, just semantics here. Sorry for my confusion, "excentric" might be a better choice of a word for the SpyderStupid, such as myself.

And, just to clear the air, no I don't think I'm smarter than anyone else, but my secret is, I keep a dictionary close by for situations just like this. :)

Thanks guys.

Excentric pivot pins are cool! My Lum Chinese needed a little lock adjustment and it was easy to do, just unscrew the pivot, pop out the pivot "unit" until you see the squared off sides beneath the pin's head (on the non-clip side of the handle), turn the pin in the proper direction to tighten up the lock and, tighten up the screw. Be careful, doing this will void the warranty!

Actually, this gentleman over here does a much better job of explaining.

BTW my SE li'l temp definitely does not have an eccentric pivot bushing.

So the Ti Salsa doesn't have an excentric blade pivot then?
