2021 Forum knife?
Re: 2021 Forum knife?
Thinner grind on a regular production knife with a unique steel and laser engraved forum name sounds excellent but maybe too much to ask for? Maybe just a thinner grind on an existing steel on an existing model with a special logo?

Let’s keep it simple like this, not another Instagram object to flex on the have-nots. The UKPK can be used and carried in just about in every country and it keeps the cost down. Not everyone has lots of cash to drop on a showpiece after the dumpster fire of 2020. The UKPK also keeps it close to Spyderco’s tenets of affordable high performance cutlery.

Re: 2021 Forum knife?
Like I mentioned about Vanax/titanium, laser engraving individual forum member names and doing custom grinds adds very large costs onto an already-money-losing venture for Spyderco. This is supposed to be a simple and accessible token of appreciation for forum members, not a lavish "dream" knife.
That's why I think the Rock Jumper idea is great. It's a relatively accessible size and cost for most. And it would celebrate a newer design from Spyderco, rather than yet another variation on a PM2. I think the UKPK would also be an ok idea, but there are already some unique variations on that already out.

I’m always down for a G10 UKPK or any Slipit as a forum knife.
The Slipit Lil Native in SPY27 and Cobalt G10 would be a truly special forum knife. If Spyderco could make it a double detent slip joint without a lock bar I think it would be a winner because it has the forward choil for safety.

I feel the need to restate how fitting an Endela would be. Brand new flagship model that has been discussed for ages. The design is begging for an upgrade from frn/vg10.
I could also get behind a rock jumper forum knife.

Rock Jumper in SPY27? Add that one to the poll.
Re: 2021 Forum knife?
Being British, a classy, affordable UKPK variant would tick all kinds of boxes for me. SPY27 and G10 would make it a no-brainer purchase.

co
To be honest, IMO Spyderco does not make any EDC fixed blade knives that one might consider - at least under certain circumstances - to carry instead of a folder. So something elegant, with smaller blade, thinner stock and easy to carry.
... I like weird ...

I know, and I'm sure it's a terrific knife, and I have a number of FRN knives in my rotation, but I think a g10/micarta handled version with a premium steel would make for an incredible knife.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:17 pmThere is the K390 Endela!Baron Mind wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:18 pmI feel the need to restate how fitting an Endela would be. Re: 2021 Forum knife?
I was thinking that if it would be hard to ship SPY27 to Seki for the Rockjumper, why not K390 instead?
I would also like to see a K390 Rockjumper for the next forum knife. It seems to me that the wider handles of the Rockjumper would be perfect for a hard use steel like the K390 vs. the Endura/Delica models.

Re: 2021 Forum knife?
Are you allowed to have a vote if you are new to the forum?
If its ok id vote for a lil native, which would be legal in most places and is a fantastic knife, maybe in lc200n and ok for salt :)

Sure! And welcome aboard!!
Being new to the forum means you may have more sense and/or be taking this more seriously than some of the jaded veterans.
Re: 2021 Forum knife?
The UKPK in SPY27 would be a great idea for a forum knife. USA made knife with USA steel. A simple knife for those of wanting to try out the new steel.
Re: 2021 Forum knife?
I generally don´t like slipjoints, but locking folders, but a UKPK as a forum knife, a new steel and not too expensive actually would be nice, when I think about it!
And tbh, in a folder like this, which will most times be held with one finger in the choil anyway, a lock is really not that important.
I personally would slightly prefer the drop point version, since I assume (but don´t know) it has a longer straight section in the edge than the leaf shaped UKPK.

Re: 2021 Forum knife?
Me somehow too, despite I avidly participate in the proposing of models... Though it is not very likely that any of it will come true, it is still fun how everyone (me included!) gets excited like a kid that´s thinking about a new toy.. :)
