I don't think you're going to go wrong here, but I voted "other" for the Military. I can't get over how light this thing is for its size.
The FRN Police is a little lighter than the standard G10 Military, and squeezes in a bit more cutting edge.

Both are amazing folders in their size to weight ratio. The slightly wider handle of the Military can be a little more comfortable in harder cutting.

The Manix XL / Police / Military trio can handle anything a folding knife should be used for. All three very nice designs.

Ugh, don't tempt me. I don't need to buy another yet.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

The Spyderco Military has been tempting me but two things... I don’t really care for liner locks and if I’m not mistaken I heard on the forum somewhere that Spyderco might make a Military with a different lock. Maybe we’ll get a compression lock Military with a four way clip. I think if they made this it would sell like crazy.

Another thing. Isn’t Spyderco going to be making a bunch of their regular production models like the Military, Paramilitary 2 and Para 3 in their new proprietary steel Spy27?

Endura K390. Longer actual edge than Manix XL, light, easy to carry, four way clip and one of the best steels on the market.
P.S. If still want a biger knife wait for Police K390 LW😉

FYI Manix 2 XL DLC inbound from Knifeworks ETA 12-30-2020

Thank you everyone for your input, it’s much appreciated.

When I receive the new Manix XL for fun I’ll post some pictures of it with some other Spyderco knives.

Thanks again all.

I especially want to thank you vivi, your in-depth review of the XL was a deciding factor.

Here is the pic of the Manix 2 XL as promised.

I’m quite impressed by the Manix 2 XL. When I first opened the box and held this knife I was seriously wowed! The knife is big in pocket and a little intimidating but I knew all this way before I bought it; no complaints here. This will be a weak hand SD blade / outdoors knife so the “intimidating” size is a good thing.

Flawless except for the slightest bit of lock stick (please tell me this will go away). This examples lock feels about the same if not a hair less difficult to actuate than the S110V shown above. I think it’s actually slightly easier to operate the lock on the XL than the Lightweight. I suspect this is because the handle spine is so slick in the lightweight model. Also I think this Spyderco came sharper from the factory than any other of the 20 I’ve bought or any other knife for that matter. I took it to a standard piece of printer paper and I was able to cut the tiniest little curlicues I’ve ever been able to cut.

Thanks again everyone and thanks again Spyderco! This is a great place to share.

Glad you like it! I'm carrying my green S30V straight spine Manix XL today. Such a great model.
