K390 blue is awesome !

#1

Post by elena86 »

I only wish they pair this blue with their SPY27 steel instead of the ''cobalt blue'' and make it regular production. BTW how would you call the K390 blue...''powder blue'' maybe ? Such a classy, eye catching colour anyway ! Love it !

I'm jealous. I have to wait till after the New Year to get one. I am stoked over this one, though.

I agree that the K390 blue is great and mentioned it here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=88199
However, I would not want it to replace the other great blue that issued on the SPY27 models. Spyderco's much broader color palette is a good thing that should be encouraged.

I like the k390 blue quite a bit, too. Funny, Spyderco didn't really give it a name. In their literature it's just listed as a "distinctive blue color."

It's as clear as the day is short and grim that this colour is everyone's favourite... phthalo turquoise!
Though I haven't seen a blue K390 in person so it may indeed be "distinctive blue color"...

I'm carrying my Endela today, and I have to say I don't really care much for this shade of blue. I'm excited for the steel, but this shade of blue just doesn't fit me. Cobalt Blue would have been ideal!

I think I'm the only one here who would have loved this in the green coloration of the BBS PM2 / Para 3 exclusives...an outdoorsy color for a hard use blade.

Hey Thomas, the Dragonfly2 in K390 is the most beautiful little thing I've seen in years. That blue is just...breathtaking. I purchased the Delica too and the Endela arrived today but the Dragonfly is eye candy. I shall purchase a backup Dfly ASAP and soon a second Delica will follow. Cool

I like it much more than the V-Toku2 color and totally wish I would have waited for the Endela instead of getting the ManBug. Maybe not the best model to try out K390 :o

Can someone post a picture next to 110V FRN blue or Spy27 FRN blue, please?

I thought the K390 blue was much closer to the blue used on the S110V FRN models. After seeing this pic that Julia posted it looks way different in sunlight vs the stock photos

In reality is darker. It's very close to the powder blue they used for the FRN ZDP189 saber grind Delica sprint.

Yeah that powder blue they used for the ZDP sprint doesn't thrill me. I'm going to pass for now

EDIT: it doesn't look too bad in that pic above though. We'll see. I plan on getting a Delica or Dragonfly in K390 at some point. Likely a Manbug too

Those pics above lean towards teal to my eyes, perhaps the lighting. My copy seems darker. Gray meets sky blue. I didn’t care for it much when I got my ladybug last spring but carrying my Endela over the past week it’s growing on me a lot. So is the model which I had never tried before.

Colors are much harder to make and do than it might appear. Especially when you try to match colors with steels for identification.
