I really need to go through this thread properly, I probably have a few things to add. Here’s some Lums, actually I think this is all of them save for the Darn Dao (which I haven’t taken a pic of yet) and the elusive one-off Cranberry Lum Chinese folder.
I used to have two of the original AUS-8 fixed blade Lum models but traded them long ago because I didn't think AUS-8 in PE would make a great fixed blade. But I've been trying to find a VG-10 fixed blade LUM for some time and I'm usually a day late and dollar short. Getting a "user" fixed blade LUM in VG-10 has been one of those models that has alluded me for quite some time. But I guess that's one element that the "Search For An Obscure Spyder" that makes the search a lot of fun.

Like I've said in the past I never was much of a fan of "tanto" blades but that LUM Tanto design is truly functional and elegant at the same time.

I have two deceased friends of mine who both just raved over the Cricket and Dodo models both. And these two guys were not "knife people" at all>> but they sure loved both of those models.

The Carbon Fiber Cricket was my fav but there was also a Pink CRICKET that drew a lot of collector interest as well.
I am sorry to hear about your friends' passing, but I am a "knife people" and I love my Dodo! I was just doing a little maintenance on it this last weekend and started wondering why they never brought back a sprint run (maybe they did and I missed it) or created a "Dodo 2". Honestly if there were ever a knife that would deserve/benefit from a re-imagining it would be the Dodo, I feel like if they did that now they could come up with something really slick.

There's never been anything else quite like it. While I admit something like the PM2 is more to my taste for general use, the Dodo always lets me do small detailed cuts with so much control.

I've always imagined the knife slightly elongated, but with a wharncliffe or tanto-esque blade, with a deep relief in the spine for the user's thumb to lock in. You could have a Dodo with an actual in-line thrusting point. Or keep the original S curve, that thing is a mean cutter. I'd be down for either.

I sort of liked the PPT myself. But what was it mainly that you really liked about it? Are you one of those guys that likes wider blades maybe? I will admit that I really like a few of Fred Perrin's models myself. But that one never really lit my fire like his STREETBEAT and Street Bowie did. But you certainly can't knock success and Fred Perrin has had a bunch of success for sure. Just curious

Aesthetically it is one of the most alluring designs Spyderco has ever made, in my opinion. I think the lines are just beautiful. I also think the the large Spyderhole gives the knife a unique looking "character." :spyder:

On top of that though, it has many features that I really like. In particular, the blade shape has become my favorite blade shape and style. Spyderco calls it a "modified wharcliffe." I like how its kind of hybrid between a spear point and wharncliffe point but with a little bit of belly.

It's also a comfortable knife, just the right size for me, the ergonomics fit my hand well. It has relatively thick liners plus the G10 scales so it has some heft and thickness in general. Which I think improves the feel in hand. I also like the corrugated G10 scales; It's not something we've seen too often from Spyderco. Lastly, I love how they implemented the deep carry clip into the backspacer.

I will say that handle design on that PPT looks intriguing. Most of the jobs I usually encounter I do better with a more streamlined and somewhat more narrow blade. My M390, C-36 Military has about a perfect sized ( width & length) blade and anything wider wouldn't do for most of the jobs I encounter. I've had two Manix models over the years and I found those blades just a bit too wide for me. And I'm not knocking any of these units with wider blades because I'm sure they have their place.

Any model any wider than the C-36 Military is usually just a bit too wide for what I like to use. Now in the food arena that's a completely different story all together. But again I would like to try that handle on some other blade design. That handle on the PPT looks very nice.

Yes Peter I do vaguely remember that. I always enjoy doing business with you Sir :) I think I had 3 of those CF Crickets at one time. I wish I would have kept more of the original, first run Carbon Fiber Spyderco models. I could just kick myself for selling that Left handed CF POLICE model I had. I would hate to guess what that one would be worth at this time.

Yes I've always enjoyed doing business with all you guys from across the pond :) . As well as our great Netherlands Brothers. It really blows me away at the high percentage of you guys from all over Europe that have caught on to the Spyderco-Craze.

There are actually quite a few of you guys from Austria here on the Forum as well I've noticed over the years. It is a fantastic global group we have here at Spyderville  Without a doubt Spyderville is the best knife Forum of any of them out there.

I've blown the mind of a friend of mine who is slowly becoming a Spyder-head. I got him a Civilian model recently from a guy over at Bladeforums. He saw a picture of one and decided he wanted one so I got one for him. He likes it and keeps it at his office and shows it off to many of his friends and clients.

Well I kind of popped his balloon so to speak when I told him that the Cricket is a miniature version of the Spyderco Civilian model ( it actually is). Well that was just a bit too much "truth" for my friend to try to digest at first. But when I showed him some stuff in my "Spyderco Story" book explaining those Reverse S blades he was just dumbfounded when I proved to him that the Cricket is indeed a micro version of the Civilian.

I would love to know the whole story on Spyderco's line up of "Reverse S" blades. It might be a case of the truth being a bit overwhelming for sure  I sincerely love Spyderco's "Reverse S" and Hawkbill blades both. Personally I always liked the Matriarch better than the Civilian.

Older models, mostly forgotten? I really love the Navigator II and the Meerkat. I am disappointed that they didn’t become more popular. I like my Salsa but I am not too keen on the compression lock. It seems backwards to me but everyone else seems to love it so it is just me. I used to have a Spyderco Mouse but I never really bonded with it. I preferred the Navigator a lot more. The same with the Cricket but I still have a stainless steel Cricket. I do like it better than the Mouse just not as much as some other smaller knives.
Here are a couple photos because we all want to see more knife photos.
