GB Air Return?

#1

Post by Dazen »

There always seems be talk of the GB Air, and how some would like to see it’s return in some way, shape, or form.

I would personally like to see it return the exact same way but with Shred or Marbled CF.

What are y’alls thoughts?

I'm all for it. This is probably the only thing that could kick my Chap LW out of my pocket as a clipless pocket knife. I used to drool over these in the display case at a local knife shop but couldn't afford it at the time.

I'd be interested but not with the silver twill CF again. I would rather see it with something else.

Definitely a cool design, I'd be in for what it is as pictured, or something different. Not very picky here!

I would love to see a return and I would prefer a different color of twill but most of all, please fix the detent. It almost ruins an otherwise excellent knife.

I would have bought one if it had a wire clip.

Stainless, wire clip, good detent, cf scales ... surely we’re really talking about an upgraded Kiwi 4!

I own this knife. What's wrong with the detent?

I would love to see the Air return with a higher-end stainless steel and true CF scales. I would be very disappointed to see that awful CF/G10 laminate used. Peel-ply CF similar to what Golden offers would be a great match to the silver twill scales used previously, but lightly contoured polished CF would be stunning. Many years ago I had Steve Ketchen make me some polished burgundy Micarta scales for mine, akin to what’s used on some of the older classic Spydies (Jess Horn, Jester, baby Goddard, etc), and I’ve really enjoyed them (although they are more slippery than the stock scales). Cheers, Radioactive

Mine is extremely weak and it always has been. Enough so that I have had it partially open in my pocket and if I try I can shake it open. I still carry it and enjoy using it though.

I bought and sold the air 3 times

The detent was soooooo weak I didnt feel comfortable carrying it in pocket, and then it had no clip

I would buy one in a heartbeat if it comes back with a wire clip

I would love to see this knife come back into regular production or maybe a sprint run but, I would only buy it if it was made in a stainless steel

Wire clip (or at least the option for it, perhaps one that attaches to the liners themselves on the back of the handle?) and either micarta or stabilized wood would make this an instant buy for me. Love the concept, I’ve come close to nabbing one on the secondary market many times.
Lightly insane.

I'm also in if there's a wire clip added. Different scales might be nice too. Keep the M4 please

I've never handled one, but I really like the design. I'd definitely prefer a stronger detent if that was a problem, plus a pocket clip of some kind and something other than black and/or carbon fiber scales.

I am also definitely for a wire clip, you can always take it off. I haven't had one, but if the detent is weak, of course fix that. It is a great looking knife.
Edit; pretty much what Julia said.

I carry mine in a watch pocket, so the lack of clip and the detent have never been issues for me. I think a clip would help a lot of people, though, and it's easy to remove a clip.

I'd honestly rather see it in a (Golden) back lock variant. M4 isn't my favorite steel (I'd prefer something like s110v in this platform--I like my gent's knives stainless) but I can live with it. For something not stainless, I'd love to see Maxamet, K390 or even Rex45, all of which have outperformed M4 in my uses.
