The Military is one of my favorites and I still have and use the ComboEdge S30V Black G-10 which I got in September 2005 for $103!

There were 7 new Military models released from May 2016 to February 2019 all with CQI enhancements:

  1. Military CTS-204P Dark Green G-10 C36GGRP KnifeWorks (USA) - MAY 2016
  2. Military 52100 Black CF C36CFP52100 Sprint (USA) - JUN 2016
  3. Military CPM-S110V Dark Blue G-10 C36GPDBL (USA) - AUG 2016
  4. Military CPM-M4 Natural G-10 C36GM4P BladeHQ (USA) - APR 2017
  5. Military CPM-S90V Black CF TitaniumI Reeve Integral Lock C36CFTIP KnifeWorks (USA) - MAY 2017
  6. Military CPM-REX45 Burnt Orange G-10 C36GPBORE Sprint (USA) - NOV 2018
  7. Military CPM-M4 Black DLC Blade Natural G-10 C36GM4PBK BladeHQ (USA) - FEB 2019
Nothing since February 2019 when the BladeHQ exclusive CPM-M4 black DLC blade with Natural G-10 was released.

The CQI enhancements came out in May 2016:

  • Larger pivot torx head and on both sides
  • Larger lanyard hole
  • Stepped stop pin
  • New clip
  • Standoffs instead of the solid backspacer
And a new pivot bushing)

There is no pivot bushing on the CQIed Military. Maybe the pivot is larger (I don't know, don't own any older Military), but no bushing on the new ones.

It’s the same as the pm2, so yeah kinda... I just swapped scales on my CQI military.

I'm sorry, but the new CQI Military DOES have a new Bushing Pivot System, just like the Paramilitary 2.

You may see it on any picture of CQI Military disassembled. Like this https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=ht ... h%2Fx%2Fim

To me, bushing is the new pivot colar found on some of the Taichung models. Military does not have one of those.

bush·ing
/ˈbo͝oSHiNG/
Learn to pronounce
noun
1.a metal lining for a round hole, especially one in which an axle revolves.
2.a sleeve that and protects an electric cable where it passes through a panel.

What Spyderco company refers to as "a pivot bushing system"

QUOTE from Spyderco Paramilitary 2 description on the Spyderco official website:

"The Spyderco Para Military 2 was released in 2010 with several changes over the classic version. Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System generates fluid action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances... "

I would like that very much. Steel seems appropriate for a knife that size vs a lil native.

Why is it tip down only?
As long as it is, if it was tip up it would take 5 minutes and 3 hands to pull it out and open it.

For close to 4 years now one of my most used EDCs out of my rotation of EDC Spyders I use almost daily is my M390 Military model. I got the M390 Military in trade about 4 & 1/2 years ago and at that time I had no intention of ever making it one of my primary EDCs in my rotation. It was used when I got it so it was an easy decision to put it in my EDC rotation.
The C-36 Military model is actually kind of a big folder for most people's EDC purposes even though Missouri knife laws allow me to carry it.

But once I started carrying it on a daily basis I couldn't stop. It wasn't long until I found that the longer blade actually had a lot of advantages to it. I've also taken it on hunting trips as a "hunter/folder" and it's almost perfect for that job too.

I own Para2 models but for some strange reason I continued to go back to the M390 Military over and over again. And it's not the only C-36 Military model I own either. But it's a great folder and supersteel blade combination and it's going to take an awesome knife to succeed it in my EDC rotation.

But the Resilience is nearly the same size, can be carried tip up, and doesn't require 3 hands. Also see the Native Chief.

Also I remember a really old Spyderco ad from probably all the way back to the late 90s I think it was>> to the best of my memory it was said that if Spyderco ( Sal especially) were to send one of their kids to serve in the armed forces the C-36 Military would be the ideal knife that they would want to send with them.

Now it's been a few years since I read that and I wish I could remember which publication I read it from. But I do believe that's an accurate paraphrase of what that original advertisement of the C-36 Military tried to convey to it's target market.

It's not only a catchy ad it's really a picture of what the C-36 Military is based on and how the C-36 Military would be ideal as "standard issue" for all men and women in the armed forces.

Or the Police... ;)

I actually would have preferred tip up when I had my Millie.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
