What song's on your mind now?

#1

Post by AllenETreat »

Me :

"The sun ain't gonna shine anymore" an oldy moldy from 1966 by
the Walker Brothers -

Loneliness, is the cloak you wear, a deep shade of blue, is
always there...the sun ain't gonna shine anymore, the moon ain't
gonna rise in the sky, the tears are always clouding your ey-es -

when you're with-out love...baaayybeee!

Emptiness, is the place your in your in...with nothing to lose, but
no more to win...the sun ain't gonna shine any-more, the moon ain't
gonna rise in the sky, the tears are always clouding your ey-es -

when you're with-out love...baaayybeee!

What say the augurers?

AET :D
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds, awake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it reality.

Don’t go around tonight,
Well, it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.

Ryan Cabrera - True

#4

Post by Hannibal Lecter »

Good day, all.

Yesterday on the drive home from work I heard a song I had not previously encountered. It was the song "True" by Ryan Cabrera, and something in it spoke to me on a deeper level than might otherwise be anticipated. In fairness, this may well hail back to my days of playing acoustic guitar entirely too much for good mental health; if this is in fact the case, I will likely be learning this song on my Taylor 512ce in the immediate future.

Thanks to Mr. Blonde and his avitar, as soon as I see the Spyderco name and logo when I log on, I sing to myself, yes I do, "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Steelers Wheel.

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

oopps. Had to come back to explain...the lyrics I've posted do not pertain to the company I keep on this forum. Infact, they are the only lyrics from the song I know. But, I do hum the tune while typing merrily away.

Sam Cooke - A Change Is Gonna Come

I was born by the river in a little tent
And just like that river I've been running ever since
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will

It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die
Cos I don't know what's out there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will

And then I go to see my brother
And I ask him to help me please
And he just winds up knockin' me
Back down on my knees

There were times when I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will...

a truly beautiful song.
Alexandre.

Strange as this thread appears to really relate. When on the internet I either play launchcast or harmonica, when I clicked on this thread I was playing :
5B 5B 5B 5B 4D 4D
Once a jol----ly swag man

4B 4D 5B 4B 3D-bb 3D 4B
ca----amped by a bil-----la----bong

3B 4B 5B 6B 6B 6B 6B 6B 6B 6B
Un----der the shade of a cool----i-----bah tree

4B 4D 5B 5B 5B 4D 4D
And he sang as he watched and

4B 4D 5B 4B 3D-bb 3D 4B
wai---ted 'til his bil-----ly boiled

3B 4B 5B 6B 5D 5B 4D 4D 4D 4B
Who'll come a---waltz----ing Ma-----til----da with me

chorus:
6B 6B 6B 6B 5B 7B 7B 7B 7D 6D
Waltz--ing Ma-----til----da waltz--ing Ma-----til----da

3B 4B 5B 6B 5D 5B 4D 4D 4D 4D
Who'll come a---waltz----ing Ma-----til----da with me

4B 4D 5B 5B 5B 4D 4D
And he sang as he watched and

4B 4D 5B 4B 3D-bb 3D 4B
wai---ted 'til his bil-----ly boiled

3B 4B 5B 6B 5D 5B 4D 4D 4D 4B
Who'll come a---waltz----ing Ma-----til----da with me

Along came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong.
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed it with glee.
And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tuckerbag,
"You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."

Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred.
Down came the troopers, one, two, three,
(Saying) "Whose is that jumbuck you've got in your tuckerbag?
You'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me."

Up jumped the swagman and lept into the billabong.
"You'll never take me alive," said he.
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong,
"Who'll come a-waltzing matilda with me?"

Hey all the harp tab is free, enjoy.

Something around the same vintage as the one you were listening to Allen, White Rabbit.

I know you guys will hate me for this one...but:

Mmmm Bop, Hansens

I only say it because I was sitting here thinking about what song ticked me off the most!

Hope this doesn't ruin anyone's weekend!!

Hope you got a chance to see the National Geographic article on the author's song. You wouldn't be an Aussie, would you? ;)

You are right and yes you did!!!! :D

I just got the soundtrack CD of Ben Stiller's and Owen Wilson' Starsky and Hutch - the movie. Lots of nice golden oldies! Johnny Cash's 'Folsom Prison Blues' is particularly catchy. Must have caused some uproar at the time of its original release.
