Hello All

I have been playing again today.....using coloured paper as backgrounds! :) I still have to sort out the lighting....I didn't get to Ikea, I thought it was a little too risky!

Ken, your spending a lot of time perfecting this art and it shows. Love those photos of the blade detail, thery're as good as any I've seen in reference books and while you experiment, they make a wonderful tool for beginners like myself to be educated to blade markings.

I'll leave the critique of lighting and composition to someone else.

Keep 'em coming. Good work!

Wow, some great pics. I like the colored paper idea. That gives the photo a special "kick".

Great work Ken.

I love that Vesuvius. :)

Ken,

Forgive my ignorance, but is the Vesuvius the Centofante III? What is that inlay on your knife? Was that available or is that a custom? It's a great knife, and I'm just becoming aware of it. Thanks for the info and great pics too!

Hello All

Thank you for the words of encouragement! :) I sometimes feel I shouldn't burden you all with my attempts whilst I am still learning. :o

I use a Minolta Dimage 7i at this time. It is a 5.0 Megapixel unit which is by todays standards very outdated.

The Vesuvius was a production model and the inlay is (I believe) Abalone shell.

Ken,

Thanks for the info, but I still need a little clarification. I have seen reference to both the Centofante III AND the Vesuvius. Are these one and the same? Most of the III's I have seen are PE, but this one is CE. Perhaps that is the main difference. And the abalone...was that a standard for the Vesuvius? I do not see it on the III. Sorry to ask so many questions, but I think this might be my next knife (assuming I can find one!).

Now look at what I'm doing with a 2.2digi.... only took 1400pics+ with it so far, usually end up with a "bad" pic about 10% of the time.

Ken,

I do/did not mean to hijack your thread. I'll post a new thread specifically about the Vesuvius. Thanks for your help,
