Wow! Thank you so much! The photos really helped. You gave me a lot of options. I will probably start with a big knife and a small knife then add more. Now I will need to decide which two to get first.
Not that it makes your choice easier, but I have always found CTS-BD1N to be a great all around steel so the Z-Cut series seems like it would be a great way to try out a Spyderco for $20 MAP.

I really, really wanted to try a Z-Cut but at 4" it's a little short for my kitchen and with the offset blade it's not going to replace the parer. Might toss it in the cart one of these days but I just don't see where it fits in for me.

SFO said they got a lot of feedback that a 6" would be appreciated. Hope it pans out.

I like the concept of the counter puppy, and like you said, I may throw it in the cart one of these days. The wife will probably love it.

My issue buying Spyderco Kitchen Knives is that for the kitchen, I want a full matching set with a wooden block. I was hoping the Murray Carter collection would be it, but it's a few knives short of what I'd want in a set, no block and $1,500ish for 5 knives, a bit too steep. I would spend $1,500 to $2,000 on a 9 Knife Spyderco Set with matching block. But a one off $400 knife I have to figure out where to put it, doesn't appeal to me.

Hi my name is David and I'm a knifeaholic.

And I kinda sorta low key don't care at all about kitchen knives
Be careful. It's a slippery slope. You start out with the Spyderco utility knives and before you know it you've got customs from Phil Wilson and Chris Berry in the kitchen drawer...

Oh I've already been drooling over Chris' kitchen knives. A couple years back I did most of the cooking around my house but my wife and I both changed shifts and now she's home in the evening and since she's a professional cook she handles it all now. I think she prefers the simpler Dexter food industry style knives.

Same here. I was at SFO and checking out with no plans to buy a Counter Puppy but they had one of those at the register and they are so affordable so I picked one up. That, and a Baliyo Wings. I had no intention of buying either when I walked in.

HJi Pearl,

My normal recommendation would be the Santoku, K04 serrated utility and the K09 paring knife. I might add a pair of Z-Cut's, plain and serrated.

Thanks Sal! I ordered the K04 and K09 already. I’ll look at the Santoku and Z-cuts next.

So many knives so little time. Lol
