Starting to become a knife enthusiast.
I currently have 3 ZT knives and love them.
I’m wanting to try out Spyderco ,but good fricken Lord, seeing this list just brought my thoughts about them to the Forefront.
How the Eff is a potential knife buyer without access to them supposed to choose between them? I doubt I can run into Bass Pro or Cabelas and try them out.
Seriously, how many models do they have?
And these are just new models for this year, right? On top of all the other mainstays...
I know someone is going to say “ do your research and read”, but that’s what I always do, and I like to read a LOT of different opinions. Good and bad. You can’t really try ZTs out a lot, but there’s less to choose from, at least.
****, I’m retired and have a lot of time on my hands, but yikes...!
From what I’ve read, Spyderco doesn’t make great flippers, which makes sense.
To make matters worse, and maybe why I shy away a bit, is I have a bad R. thumb joint and when it flares up, a flicking motion can be painful( or is the action just buttery smooth, and if so, which one(s)
So steer me towards something that a flipper lover can also love.......

The beginning of this post had me excited until I read it more closely a second time and saw the word 'models'. I guess a new letter in the stock number a new model?? There have only been a handful of NEW knives this year. But there have been many variants of existing knives this year.

I always look forward to NEW Spyderco knives. They frequently push the envelop to come up with interesting and eclectic designs. Not being a steel junkie the variants rarely make a blip on my radar. Although I will probably give the SPY Manix variant a try.

Welcome to the forum. Flicking a Spyderco folder open is optional --it can be opened with a slow, rolling movement of the thumb. Conversely, some models can be flicked open using the middle finger instead of the thumb.

What size of ZT do you like? If you lean towards the 0562, some similarly sized models from Spyderco are the Manix 2, Paramilitary 2, Endura, and Gayle Bradley 2. Smaller, like the ZT 0770, would be the Yojimbo 2. The even smaller ZT 0450 is comparable in size to the Para 3, Delica 4, and Sage 5 lightweight. I feel this would be a representative sample of the more popular Spyderco models that might appeal to someone with a preference for flippers.
